springs for my accord
hey i am looking towards lowering my 6 gen accord, and im an AEM fan, and i read that if i get the the AEM sport kit, i wont have to change the shocks for it (im a cheap guy), but i also heard that alot of times it will give u that boat look for ur car, is this true? if so what kind of spring do u guys suggest?
I wasn't aware AEM made springs at all. It might give you a boat like ride depending on much it's lowered. I wouldn't go lower than 2" with the stock shocks.
hey 1v64u, you can find some good information on the "basic accords" sticky.
by my understanding, there are three springs made by major companies that can be used with oe shocks:
(1) eibach: prokit
(2) h&r: OE spec
(3) tein: s-tech

Your stock shocks will be ok even with a mild drop (eibach sportlines w/1.8" drop) for a while....then I would recommend getting upgraded shocks that have lower strokes (designed for shorter spring height) like kyb agx's or tokico blues or koni yellows.
check out this forum for some really good deals on said items: https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=48
But THE biggest thing you need to do after getting a new suspension is an alignment, period.

I have a 6th Gen and I picked up the Eibach Sportlines(2" drop) and it looks great. Go in the garage and look for my car. The only problem i am running into is that the wheels are a tad bit too small for the car, in the picture they look real small but in person they look great, but oh well it's a start
I just installed H&R sport springs with KYB GR2 shocks and I'm very happy with the result. I have about a 2 finger gap all around. I just lowered it so it is still settling. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.
I was going to keep my stock shocks but the set of GR2's was only 150 bucks. (they are a little better than the stockers) While the car was apart, I figured I'd do it all at once since my stock shocks had over 50 grand on them.
Car handles like a dream, not too low but it definately noticable, looks and performance-wise.

I am preparing to do the same thing. If you like your stock ride you may want to consider Tanaba NF210 series. They lower the car 1.5/1.2 but use new bumpstops to keep stock comfort and stock shocks.

You won't need to adjust the camshaft with your suspension upgrade. Your camshaft is in your engine. You should be able to ride the stock shocks with the Tanabes depending on the condition of your stock shocks.

Camshaft eh? Uhh . . . I think you are thinking of something else. But like ekcoupep said if your stock shocks are good you should be fine. If they are going bad you will probably find out pretty quick.
