Apexi Power FC
Is anyone using the Apexi Power FC in ITR. I'm considering getting one but I want to know if this unit has as default a racing program ROM for the DC2 ITR when you order it or it comes with a normal ITR ROM like an OEM ecu . Or do I have to tune it with a dyno, the problem here in Guatemala is that we don't have dynos.

if you buy it from a Power Excel Dealer such as http://www.p1auto.com , they can load any program you want
yes, it comes with a "tuned" base ITR map. They reccomend tuning it professionally in the manual, but who doesn't say that? I'm running it in my car. Ran it in my last near stock ITR too. Great power gain with bolt ons, gas milage was better, ran it for probably 10K miles, but never had a chance to dyno it. Great ECU, though. My buddy Pete made 180whp/126wtq on his ITR tuned with the Power FC using J's intake, Spoon header, test pipe, stock exhaust. Pretty respectable I'd say. Aside from the AEM EMS, its the only ECU I'd ever use.
You should get a Datalogit so you (or your tuner) can access all the tuning features of the PowerFC:

Plus from my understanding, you can do everything with DataLogit that a Power Excel dealer can do. This might be a bad thing if you don't know what you're doing, like me.

I'm not sure if the Datalogit is a hack or an emulator of the Power Excel program, but it sure has a LOT of parameters you can adjust (stuff you cannot access using the Commander alone).

leaps and bounds better, unless you want extras like full throttle shift/launch. Which I think is pointless. Where it REALLY matters, the Power FC shines. That is in the maps. The fuel/ignition maps are 20x20, very high resolution. That basically means if there is a spot in your map that needs more fuel or a timing change, you can get closer to that exact spot without sacrificing tuning around that area like you would on a Hondata.

I know it's not for an itr, but I used the power FC on on my 91 240sx-det and I loved it. Never really had it tuned, and the car felt great regardless. Great product.

most, yes

I've been meaning to ask you, assuming you've used both, what do you gain by using the Power Excel software?

One of the significant Excel options might be setting the grids up for boost.
