Default Olympia Motosports gear?

http://www.olympiamotosports.com/ace/ace.htm

I found this jacket today at my neighborhood dealer for 50% off. It looks awesome, with a sort of ashy black leather finish, not that shiny look most companies' stuff has.

I tried it on and the sleeves were a little long when not sitting in a riding position, but that was really my only gripe. Does anyone know anything about Olympia's stuff aside from gloves? I'm really thinking about picking this up once I let my JR Alter Ego go, but it won't zip to any pants and make a suit like the Vanson stuff. However, it would only cost me about 170 bux, as against 600 or so for a nice Vanson jacket.

It had some CE armor in the shoulders, back, and elbows, since safety is a concern. Have any of you guys slid across the pavement with it, or something like it?

-Ross, who can't pass up a good deal...

EDIT - looks like it has an 8" zipper for pants. But for what pants? hrmm

8" zipper will zip to your pants, but won't be track approved ( not sure if thats on your list ).

check out http://www.newenough.com on the closeout aisle. they have some sweet deals.

It was, sort of. But for this price, I might as well get the jacket and then get a full suit when the time comes.

What does one need for a pants/jacket combo to be track-approved, exactly?

I thought they all had to be 1 pc? I could be wrong.

They can be 2 piece but need to be connected with a zipper that pretty much goes all the way around your waist. It could vary amongst different organizations though

How have you liked the alter ego jacket? I'm thinking of picking one up.

I love it, actually. I'm back and forth on selling it, really. It's good for just about any weather you can throw at it.

That red style is hot... I've been looking for something similar for a while.

Which is your local dealer? I think I'm going to have to check it out.

Not a clue on how well it's constructed, though.

you need a 1pc or a full circumfrance to piece suit. and the 8" wont be considered full. when i bought my jacket i figured why not get the full just in case, so i dont have to buy the full suit later

The construction was really what I'm after. The MSRP is 299, so it's either not as good as the higher-end stuff, or just not as established.

Thats awesome, I'm thinking about picking one up as my all weather jacket. I hope that one of our local places has them in stock so I can try one on.

Sometimes having long sleeves can cut off circulation to your hands and make them feel numb after a bit of riding. But sometimes you can tighten your gloves to keep the wrists of the jacket from probing into your upper hands. My jacket was making my hands fall asleep so I had them tailored 2" shorter. Great now, I feel so much better and unconstraint.

My main concern wasn't that (although it hadn't occurred to me), but the fact that if the sleeves are fully extended, they cover most of my hands...so that means the CE armor in the elbows slips a bit. However, when I sat on one of the showroom bikes, it wasn't an issue.

Thanks for the tip on circulation.
