Default Headers? Do they Make a difference?

Hey all i got a 2005 honda civic ex
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/814683
this is my car check it out

i put a intake and its pretty cool. noticed a bit in take off and acceleration. sounds great too. im going for hp. i like the brand and its not expensive. and i am going to get a cat back , but i heard headers dont make a difference. and my car is automatic. if you have a auto civic and you placed headers let me know what went on or every one else, let me know what you think. thanks to all.

Before you go out and spend more money, read this entire thread.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078

You will spend your money more wisely and get the best performance for your money.

The short answer to your question is no. A header alone will not help your performance out that much. You need to think of mass flow from your intake to your exhaust tip. The simple bolt on mods will go from intake to header to cat to exhaust piping to muffler. You can do other internal mods to the engine between the intake and header steps but you need to do a lot of research to make the best of your budget..

No before you spend anymore money sell your car and get something manual because that automatic is going to get you nowhere.

Header. Not headers.

Yes it makes a difference if you have a intake and exhaust setup to go along with it. If your motor is taking in the same amount of air your OEM header was designed for then youre not going to see any changes.

lol...yeah you never seen those?...lol. Well since you have a slushbox I would have to say do a auto to manual swap first. You will see increase in response very quickly. exhuast manifolds do gain some HP, but your exhuast has to be built up right. That also goes for your intake too.

Poor guy. Welcome to H-T. Hopefully you'll learn more here than your Cardomain page implies you already do.

Those oem seat covers are the sex ...

haha but anyways yeah bro have to agree w/ everyone start from the "back and work your way up" exhaust , header , intake or what not ... although if i was in your shoes i'd just save up for a turbo setup, thats where the real power is in for the d-series , not bolt-ons

before you spend more money, you should check out prices from this new price comparison site. They are fairly new, but seems to pretty cool.

this isn't quite right either. intake/exhaust just allows for better flow of the air. you won't be "taking in more air" unless you have cams...

by looking at his poll on his cardomain page, none of the options relate to each other. he goes from one extreme to another. one option is a k20 swap(which I doubt he is skilled enough to do) and then another is air bag suspension?? neither of those have relevance to one another. I say this kid needs to buy a car with a manual tranny. and you WILL learn more here than any other site that I have stumbled across, except homemadeturbo.com is where I go for all my FI questions

3-5 Hp max out of a header. That's enough to make your car louder so it seems faster to you, but not actually make it faster.

What about those 5 lug 19's on your page? Those for your civic too? Get rid of the auto tranny, it's robbing you of more power than you think.

if you want more power, get rid of your stereo system... subwoofers add a lot of unnecessary weight... :D

those wheels you want will make your car slower. and they wont fit. the lug pattern you need is 4x100.
