Default Integra Questions

hey all, newbie here with a couple of questions bout my integ...

1. How can i get my car to go BEEP BEEP when i turn my alarm on and off? i have a factory acura alarm, and i heard i can do it with just the remote or something like that.

2. It came with some semi-reverse glow guages that are wired into the stock dimmer thingy to the right of the steering wheel. the problem is, the lights will sometimes just turn off without warning, and just come back on at a random time. completely random. is it a faulty wiring job? or what? any info would help.

3. On the left side of the steering wheel is a lil push button. its near this lil change compartment and the sunroof buttons.

I have a 2000 Integra GS 4-door stock, except for some minor appearance modifiers and a kill switch. No major part changes that i know of. thanks for any help, hope this is in the right section

The little button by your change draw is for your security system. I am pretty sure that is for if there is a problem, you push that then have to retype the codes in your headunit. Call acura and find out for sure, they will know. to make your alarm cirp, mine it was pushing the bottom button on the controler, i dont know if you have tried that, other wise if your car is 94-97 the security system is under the driver side seat but on a 98-01 i think they put it in a different spot, you would have to look in either your manual or look for it. There are settings on there such as sensitivity maybe there is a setting on there to make the alram chirp when armed. Yes to me the wiring sounds like a faulty connection the only real way to find out is to take it aprt and look for bad taping and redo the connections yourself.

just my opinion, but id rather my alarm be stealthy.

that button your talking about, thats not the cruise control button is it? maybe the letters came off or something? i dont have a small button on that side on mine. but i have an old school g3.

but yeah, if someone put a different cluster in and its shorting out then they suck at life. have someone knowledgable look at it.

On the 96-00 Civic Honda keyless entry (those that had alarms as well) you could hold down the lock and unlock buttons at the same time to make the alarm silent or audible. But a 2000 Integra never came with factory alarm or keyless entry, it was dealer installed if you have it, so it all depends on what brand of alarm that dealer installed - so you could try asking them, or do some research on what brand it is (look at the alarm brain, siren, back of the alarm remote for the FCC ID) and call up the company.

your gauges are probrably not grounded right, take the ground wire and find a nice metal part, preferably a bolt, and play around with it, I think its the ground

They may have used a Honda remote for your car, but since the Integra doesn't come with keyless or an alarm from the factory, it will depend on what kind of alarm the dealer ended up installing. I had a dealer installed alarm on my old 99 Civic Si (some no name brand) that used the Civic's keyless entry remote.

there is also another cruise button on the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel, mirroring the dimmer switch. basically a master ON/OFF for the cruise control.

No, you need to find the FCC ID or at least some brand markings on the alarm's main unit ('brain'), on the remote, or on the siren. It will give you a clue on where to look for more info. For example, if you look on your alarm brain (should be a little black box with wires coming out) and it says 'Rattler 300D' on it, then you can call DEI and find out how to do it.

i looked on the back of the remote, and it has a sticker with unlock instructions, acura sticker, and an FCC ID which is A269ZUA108...now what? =/

edit: i found the programming steps to program a new alarm thing into my car, but it doesnt say anything about whether or not it will chirp..

alright, here is how you make the alarm chirp:

hold the option button, the one to the right of unlock button, and hold either the lock or unlock button at the same time(i dont remember which one works, so try both). hold both of these buttons for a few seconds. that should make your alarm make noise when you lock/unlock the car.

if you have a siren installed, it will chrip, however if you do not have a siren, the horn will honk.

hope that this helps you out.

as for the small push button, that is to disarm the alarm or to put it in valet mode i think. its use for disarming the alarm is in case the remote stops working. to disarm w/ the button while the alarm is going off, put the key in the ign. and turn it to the ON position. then push the button and the alarm should stop. i think there may be another use for it as well but you will have to check the manual to be sure.

Based on that FCC ID #, you have a 4 button Acura keyless entry remote, and I am assuming they wired an alarm to work with it. You should have a trunk button, an unlock button next to it, a lock button on top, and a panic button (red one on the bottom). Is that correct?

If so, you can't use the 'option' steps mentioned above, but if you have an option button like most Civic keyless entries, that should work. As I remember, the civic keyless entry remotes used to have a sticker either on the back or inside the battery cover explaining how to make the remote audible or silent. I still think they used an aftermarket alarm with your keyless entry, so it could just be a dealer install issue (they may have programmed the buttons differently).

not true. i have the trunk button on my remote and i am able to change it the same way you would with it being an option button.

and when u do it, it chirps when u lock AND unlock? cause mine just chirps 3 times when i lock, and nothing when i unlock. and what about programming the trunk to the option button? or anything for that matter. sorry for all the questions, i dont have a manual or anything at all for my integra

edit: nvm, i messed around with the remote and combinations, and got it to beep twice when unlocking, and once when i lock. the question still stands about the option programming though thanks

i think you need to have the remote trunk option installed on your car in order for you to have the button function. im not sure about that tho

Makes sense, thanks for the correction Turboaddict. Cool to know the trunk button and option button are exactly the same, I never had the trunk button on the Civic Keyless entry remotes I had, and my Integra never had one.

I do have a question though Turboaddict, do you have the exact same FCC ID on your remote as Ashhong? Or is there another FCC ID for the remote with the trunk button and a different one for the remote with the option button in place of it?
