lowering help on a 4thgen
hey, im about to by lowering springs for my 93 prelude. and i do not no what to go with. iam not going to change the shocks or anything yet but jus the lowering springs. what can i go with thats good? IS tein any good>? also some tips on install would be good too. thanks.
what do u mean? do aftermarket shocks make ur springs sag lower or something? im thinking of doing tein lowering springs and then some gr2 shocks or tokico blues. what would the ride be like?
Eibach pro kit is excellent for lowering. Great for overall handling around turns as they should be and mine weren't stiff or anything when I first got them on either. As for shocks, I went with Tein (adjustable flex damper kit). They're pricey if you get them from Tein themselves but I got mine brand new in the manufacture box and everything off of ebay for $910 w/shipping. I love 'em b/c they're adjustable for those speed bumps that are in my apartment complex (well, it worked well when my car was running but hopefully that'll be taken care of soon!). Good luck to you.

well i would suggest if you are going to lower your car to just buy new shocks while ur at it. when you lower your car on stock shocks they wear out alot faster and for a 12 year old car you should get it done. if you decide to buy shocks and the springs just get a full coilover system. installation is more of a breeze that way. look into tein full coilover system or D2 or apex or Omnipower *not sure if they have it for preludes yet*
now if you want just springs...
S-tech are good if u just want a drop look w/ a soft ride.
H&R Race are good if you want a drop look and a fairly stiff ride.
Eibach would be best if you want look and great handling.
if u decide on buy shocks later..
Koni yellows!
hope this helps!
another advice is...
if you dont know how to lower your car take it to the shop.
but if you have the tools and another friend to help you i can help you out on how to lower it though i am not liable for anything bad that happens!

hmm i think im gona stick with teins. i eventually will change the shocks although jus not right away. also how much of a drop can i get with these tein shocks. im not lookin for much more than 1.5
ya ive heareed good and bad from ground control. If i get adjustable coilovers instead of lowering springs do i still need to change shocks?

either way you dont HAVE to, but either way you should

i have s tech tein springs right now and im going to tell you it is going to ride very similer to stock. it lowerd my car just enough to tell it was lowerd, if i were you i would definatley spend a little more money and get coilovers from what i know groundcontrol ride best for the money. but IMO the only good thing about the tein springs is getting to put the sticker on your car...
its simple on the front just like any car but the rear is just a little bit more complicated. you need to drop the control arm but i did it myself when i first got my car haveing not ever worked on a honda before so you should be alright. besides i herd subies are hard to lower so you should be good.

Shocks & springs are different. You said you're looking for a 1.5 drop w/the Teins....I don't know if Tein has springs or not. If you want to lower your car...go with springs from Eibach or any other well known company....just do your research first. As for shocks, Tein carries the Flex Damper kit that is adjustable to raise and lower for other uses...i had to raise my car a bit to go over speed bumps in my apartment complex. You can get the 1.5 you're looking for as far as that goes but as stated before, if you just want to lower your ride, do springs first.

Definitely listen to this advice. Get both at the same time, it'll be well worth it. If you're in a hurry but don't have the $ for both my advice to you is to sit on your money until you do have enough saved. Trust me, I've gone through hell w/my car on things like this.

if you want to spend less, u can get kyb agx's and get springs. they have a lifetime warranty, as long as you do not use coilovers and do not go more than a 1.5 inch drop. there are other things too, but the lifetime warranty thing is pretty cool.
i have found shocks that meet my budget. i know i may sound stingy but jus dumped $1000 for C.f. hood and then rims and tires. Anyways the shocks are KYB GR2 gas shocks. They are going for $235, and im going to go with tein springs. anyone hear of these shocks befor?
your CF hood alone was $1000? Or that w/rims & tires? I hope it was both b/c that's a lot for a hood. Did you get it from VIS? Mine ran $500 at the max for my 99.
the hood came out to 950 then i let a body shop align and put it on. its 100% carbon fiber from jsp then rims were about $1300 with kumho ecsta 711's.
back to the suspension. Ground control coilovers are designed to work with stock shocks fine. as so i hear, also whats good about KYB Gr2 shocks.
i dont mean to ruin my own thread. but heres a hood picture

cant complain about fitment. But ya back to suspension
