Default Blown valve cover gasket! WTF?? Why did it happen?

Ok. There I was, happy to be going home from work, got the KoRn pumped up loud, then all of a sudden *sniff sniff*... SMOKE in the cabin!

So I get home, pop the hood and the valve cover gasket has blown out on the front (right above my hedders). Texas tea was everywhere! So I rip the cover off and look at the gasket...looks good. No cracks or tears, it just was blown from the little groove that it sits in.

My question is...what the f*ck happened? My cover was bolted down tight (I think) but is there any other explanation to this? By the way, when I started my car, it was -4 degrees F. (Cold canadian prairie weather) Isnt there a sensor that releases head pressure?

Thanks guys. Please reply ASAP!

Wow! I can't believe nobody here knew the answer. Well I figured it out. I had some condensation in that hose that comes off the valve cover (that goes to intake) and that froze up and caused backpressure.

I blew mine off from boost on a pair of burned pistons

Lookie.... See it just to the left of the wastegate? That blew oil EVERYWHERE in my engine bay

I posted a while back all my mods, but I can't find the post... welp, back to the search engine

[edit] found it all

Here's the setup: It should make 350-400 at the wheels at 18+ PSI.
B16a Controlled by a Z-Dyne Gold Programmable ECU
ITR Cams
ITR Intake Manifold
ITR Valve Springs
JG 64mm Throttle Body
Eagle Rods
Endyne Pistons - .010 over, 9:1 compression - Polished, then ceramic coated skirts and tops
550CC Venom Injectors
Eclipse GS-T Uprade Pump
F-Max Manifold
Deltagate Wastegate
Garrett 4/3 hybrid Turbo .50 a/r compressor
Custom Downpipe to keep a/c
Custom Piping
Spearco Liquid/Air intercooler
1.5 Gallon Reservoir in the stock resonator location behind bumper
4 pass hi flow heat exchanger by Cool-Tek for the intercooler system
70 GPH bilge pump
GReddy BOV and Turbo Timer
GReddy Profec B
GReddy EGT, Oil Pressure, and Boost Gauges

Suspension is a WIP, but so far I've got:
Tokiko 5 way adjustables at all corners
Ground Control Coilover Sleeves <will have 400/350 rate springs soon>
16" ADR DTM Wheels with Nitto 555 205/45/16 Tires

Brakes Will Be 12" Wilwood in the front. <hopefully, maybe just Fastbrakes 10.2" kit.>
I have 93 Integra GS brakes in the rear now.

Sound good?
