Default GS-R compression 240-235-230-235.......Are these numbers right ???

I tested my 195,000 miles gs-r a few days ago and the results were 240-235-230-235......the weird thing is that I tested it 2 months ago also, and I came out with 195-195-195-190...I always thought that the highest compression for a gs-r motor was like 225.........is that the case or can a gs-rs compression really be 240 ? Allso, why would the numbers change for the better instead of for the worse ??

thats pretty damn good.. my jdm gsr motor with about 40k on it has 225 straight across. seems kinda odd that yours would go up though... id do it again.

the only thing that I've done since then was take apart the throttle body and clean it, as well as clean the inside of the intake manifold......I also changed sparkplugs about 2 weeks ago....

so if thats the case, how can a motor that has almost 200,000 miles have compression of 240-235-230-235 ?? Carbon buildup maybe ?

Good engineering. And yes, carbon buildup would increase your C/R slightly, but the main thing your looking at is variance between the numbers. And yours is solid.

I have 124k on the clock, 53k boosted, and my compression is 230/240's across. <knock on wood>These cars just keep on tickin man.

Your compression numbers dont reflect your overall health however. You could have great compression and shitty leakdown %'s. It definitely is a good sign though.

its industry standard to pull all the plugs out. saves you the WOT stuff.

if 280 is standard, then it's almost time for me to do a rebuild
i got 185,185,185,185 the last time i checked mine. i was under the impression that 200 across was standard

280 def isnt standard, thats WAY high. I forget the exact specs, but 185 is on the low side. Are you sure you were WOT?

Ive been anywhere between 6-11PSI throughout that time, but I would say the majority was spent at a solid 6-8PSI daily. I was JRSC'd for 40kish and turbo'd for the rest.

A lot of those miles were on the shitty JR FMU setup as well, and it was running WAY lean up top. These motors are just incredible, especially with good tuning. I couldnt ask for any more, and Im happy every day she fires up and runs hard
