Putting timing belt back on
I'm about to put my new cams in and could use some help putting the timing belt back on. It looks kinda tight, so I think I may have messed up the whole automatic tensioner thing too. Does anyone have any tips or know where I can find a writeup with pics, even if it's not a Prelude? I DO have a helm's manual, but I would just like some input from people with experience. Also, when I took the cam gears off, I dropped the cam key into the timing belt compartment, is there anyway this could affect anything like getting stuck on the belt and causing it to jump teeth? How hard would it be to take off the cover and get it out, do I just have to remove the crank pulley and some bolts on the cover? Is there a technique to get the belt on to the gears again without a special tool? So many questions, ANY input on this matter is appreciated, thanks.
Do the h23 manual tensioner conversion and follow the procedures to this thread

Why did you take off the cam gears?
You're gonna have to remove the crank pulley to get the lower tb cover off.

since you have a h23a1, you shouldn't need to re-tension the tensioner. you have a manual tensioner so no need to do anything but take off the timing belt and put it back on. make sure you get the key out from where you dropped it or you can have a possibility of it getting stuck in the belt and pulleys and skipping or doing some other type of damage.
just make sure you have the cylinder #1 at TDC when putting back on the head. then line up the cam gears to TDC and you should be fine.

Alright, thanks. I didn't mean to say automatic tensioner, I got confused, that was my bad. Also, the cam gears were taken off because I replaced my valve train, cams, and cam gears (check sig). Also, what is the best way to get the crank pulley off?

A strong impact gun.
A strong impact gun.
This is not my car, but from this picture's perspective, which way does the timing belt rotate when the car is running, to the left or the right? I've heard that it is counter-clockwise (going to the left) and just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

if you look at the car from the direction in the pic, yes, counter-clockwise, spinning to the left towards the front of the car.
if you don't have an impact, you'll have to hold the crank somehow. honda has a big hexagon type key that goes into the crank pulley to hold it while you take off the crank bolt.
