Default Knowledgeable opinions wanted on B18C4 and toys

ok... I got my B18C4 swap running. Now I'm finishing up the time is here to start thinking about my new toys.
I have cams and springs going in etc...
The plan was, to build the B18 while it was out of the car. I can't have the car sitting still for another couple of weeks.

Here's the deal. I have some hi-comp skunk2 valves that I wanted to have in the engine. But it's in the car already because I had to swap it in. B16 blew.

I've been thinking...I can swap the B16 head I have left over on..put all the goodies in there. BUT, the B18 has better lost motion assy, and higher compression than a B16.

So I'm putting on a low compression head.. and put in hi-comp valves. Where's my gain?

Should I keep my B18 head... sell the valves, and buy a big bore throttlebody instead? Or are the valves really worth it to have my car sitting still again for another week?

Insights and opinions?

IMO valves are not really worth it. Spend the money on a throttle body or intake manifold to feed those big cams. Keep the b18 head as well unless you plan on switching pistons. Using b16a(pr3) pistons with the b18 block and b16 head will yield an 11.2:1 or so static compression ratio. You can always swap over the lmas if I am not mistaken.

So the B16 pistons will bump up the compression as well? To swap the LMA's I'd have to take the B18 head apart as well. Making is worthless to sell.

Wont the decrease in weight of the valves give me a gain, and less stress on the valvetrain?

Yes the pr3 pistons will bump compression.

Yes will need to disassemble the b18 head to remove the lmas.

Valves will help reduce the mass of the valvetrain but the cost imo is not worth the gain.

IMO just stick with the full b18c4 unless you swap pistons and decide to use the b16a head.

not swapping head will save me a bundle in parts and labor. Can't do it myself, and head gasket and seals will cost me well over 300 bucks here in holland.

Well then it sounds like sticking with the complete b18c4 with cams, a good header, intake manifold, tb, and some tuning is the way to go for you. Good luck with the project.
