Is this really correct?

I tuned my car accordingly and every one is telling me that I need to be richer than 12.1:1 while in boost...

Why do people keep telling me that?

It all depends how much boost your pushing...the more boost the more richer you need to run

you need it richer than 12:1 one reason....

lets say your on the dyno tuning the engine. for example we use 12:1.

while sitting on the dyno and doing dyno pull after dyno pull the engine will produce so much heat that the ECU will automatically add more fuel by reading the air intake temp.

so you may get 12:1 a/f oin the dyno but once you start driving it on the street on a cooler night it will deffinatly be leaner. sometimes as much as 1 full point leaner.

if your tuned to 12.5:1 on a dyno with the ambiant air temps in the intake maifold at 130-140deg as soon as you start boosting around town with air intake temps of 80-90 your gonna be running over 13:1 guarenteed!

so when people tell you that you should tune to 12:1 or lower there is a reason for it......thats saftey.......you wont go blowing **** up that way.....

hope that kinda makes sense......

Like bruceleeroy said, 24.7 is 24.7 in/hg of vacuum and 0.35 in/hg.

1.13 is 1.13 PSI

Thanks a lot, answered my next question. lol. My boosted ls is still in the works, but it'll be boosted/tuned with uberdata. Now if I could just figure out how people retard timing and what BAR is. I'd start another thread for all my questions, but I'm sure searching will yeild the answers.

haha, BAR is just just a way to measure pressure. 1 BAR = 14.7psi

Depending on which version of Uberdata you are using there are a few ways to tune your timing...

I followed this writeup...

http://uberdata.pgmfi.org/foru...18605

I think there is also a script for step retard in the newer versions but I haven't used it... it's just as easy to do it this way.

Won't the IAT sense the colder air and automatically add more fuel?

only running in closed loop or running AEM EMS will this happen

I believe Neptune is the only one with IAT correction factor, and you can do it in percentage. So that makes it nice.

Every standalone has IAT correction. Out of the factory chipping type systems neptune would be the only one with that correction

yes, that is obvious. I was stating the only factory rom editor to my knowledge, which puts it in its own league.

so for 1.13 at a 12.5:1 ratio it would be
1.13/12.5=.0904
Is that the value that would go in the 1.13 cells?

Not to nitpick, but 1 BAR isn't 1 atmosphere, it's 14.5 psi. 1 atmosphere is 1.013 BAR. It's so close that people just interchange 1 BAR and 1 atmosphere.

I had just assumed that 1 BAR= 1 atm, or 101.3 kPa

I definatly wouldn't go and spend the money on neptune and travel all that way for tuning just so i could have an adjustable IAT parameter lol
