Will a DC2 Mugen Intake Fit EK9??

 

The older version (with the K&N filter) will fit an EK9, on our USDM Si (EM1), the AC line need to be bent or moved:

Good luck; I tried to wedge that into my EM1 and it was way too big. I sold it to an ITR buddy.

 

nothing is too big for you to wedge into a tight spot Shane.

 

The DC2-R version WILL fit in an EK. You WILL need a slim radiator fan. You can get a for 12" Pro Form slim line FAN for $60 shipped from user b18bturbo. I did, and and it works great . For ease of installation, you need to replace the stock fan with the slim line, remove the radiator overflow reservoir, and you should take off the passengers side torque mount and bracket, but that is not 100% necessary, but I recommend it. Slide it in, and bolt it down. Watch the AC lines behind the passengers headlight. You will have to wedge the mounting lip under them. It sounds badass at WOT, and the throttle response and power are very nice, too

note about the slim fan: it you are using the stock fan plug, match the blue to black wire, and black to blue; so the fan PULLS the air into the engine bay.

One more very important thing.... TAKE YOUR TIME! Do NOT force the infamous "JDM birdbath" into place or you will probably damage it
If it gets tough to push, make sure it is not stuck on something. Remember, it WILL fit

did mugen ever make a intake pipe to mate to the air box?

 

Did you have to remove the passenger's side torque mount? I have a Mugen box on order and I will be installing it in August. The only thing i'm worried about is my fluidyne radiator.

 

Thanks for the info. How close does the box sit to your fan. My fluidyne is about twice the thickness of your stock radiator, do you think it would clear?

sorry about the noob question but wats the different between the DC & Ek mugen intake apart from the design and the dC's get the mugen filter

Sweet, a real CTR and the muuuugen intake cleared the MC too. Nice kaaaa though if it's yours.

It sits so close to the stock radiator as it is, I highly doubt with a fluidyne and a fan it would fit.

I think it would fit however if you had the fan in front of the radiator rather than on the engine bay side then it should fit</TD></TR></TABLE>

Thanks for the info once again. I just got my new fan today but I'm still waiting for the damn air box. I can't wait to install it!

 

have u got any pics of where the radiator coolent bottle will interupt where the intake is sorry about the noob questions, im still deciding on which intake to get

 

Maybe, u might have to do some cutting to get it to fit right.

 

j-racing i know of heaps of people thats has them, im more towards the mugen, i guess ill settle wif the older version, and plus j-racing will attract cops over here

Even with the EK Mugen intake box the fitment sux. You have to play with it.

 

this might b a stupid question im currently using a itr b18c and of cause using the itr intake pipe will the Ek mugen intake fit wif the itr intake piping, oh by the way its in a Ek civic

You will need a EK/CTR Intake Arm to use the ek mugen box even with your B18c engine.


Also just went for my first real drive away in the ctr with the mugen air box and at 100km/h its super loud. I have never had an intake thats this loud at 100km/h in 5th gear.

Although the rear seats and boot is gutted interior so that maybe why its so loud but the intake it tight man
