Changed my oil this week after going about 4k since the last one (at least). Had been using Mobil 1 0w-20 but it seems that they discontinued that, so I switched over to 5w-20.
When I was pouring out the old oil into a container (gallon jug), noticed I didn't even fill it up. So I was probably missing 1/2 -3/4 of a quart. Should I be concerned?
I know the K20A3 has eaten plenty of oil, but I'm at 29k miles and haven't had this issue up until now. Could it just be from the extended miles and low viscosity oil I was using? How often should I check it to see if I'm missing any - every fill up?

 

I wouldnt be too concerned.. you believe its a little low based on the 4k? Did you do the last oil change before you switched to 5w20? If so didnt you do it at the same distance?

 

my ep ate oil BEFORE 15k miles, then none.

Yes, I've done all but the first 2 oil changes myself.
I probably changed it at 3k or 3.5k last time. Definitely went over 4k this time, methinks.

That's what I figured - wasn't that big of a deal/was just due to hard driving/going aways before the change, but I wanted to double check.
