KYB AGX with Ground Control Installation
Hey guys, I recently bought a set of used KYB's and GC springs. I attempted to install them this weekend and realized I was missing the rubber seat that goes on top of the spring for the upper mount. Can these be bought separately? Also my the KYB's don't have dust boots. I also couldn't help but notice the GC springs don't sit well in the OEM upper mount. Did you guys use the OEM upper mounts? I know KYB sells their own upper mounts and dust boots but will they work with GC coilovers . Is anyone using these? I'm pumped up and excited about my new suspension setup. I can't wait to get them on but I want to do it right the 1st time. I'd appreciate you guys help and suggestions. Thanks in advance.
I've never used GC personally, but I'll do my best to try to answer some of your questions.
The rubber seat... do you mean the rubber piece that wraps around the coil itself? If so, transfer the ones from the OEM springs over to the GC springs. It's not essential, but it keeps the springs from squeeking. That's the only rubber piece that I'm aware of.
I have Tokico Illuminas, which also did not come with dust boots. Assuming the KYB's are similar, you need to transfer the dust boots over from your OEM shocks, as well as the metal disk that it rests on. (Lightly tap the metal disk with a hammer to free it.)
Sorry I can't answer more of your questions...

Thanks for your reply. Yes I do mean the rubber piece that wraps around the coil itself for the upper mount. The thing is that the OEM coils are bigger than the GC coils. So the OEM rubber seat does not fit.
