Default Did I receive the correct steering tie rod??

I ordered a new steering tie rod from hondaautomotiveparts.com last week and when it arrived, I compared my original oem 1990 CRX part with the new one.

I'm not sure if the balljoint is merely super-compressed, or if the new design is different? Also, check out the width at the bottom where it screws in....slightly different
Hmm

Did Honda merely modify their parts? Or did I get the wrong one
Thanks

I wouldnt be too worried as long as it fits. When i bought oem tie rods for my integra, they were slightly different too. As for the rubber boot, it will compress when you install it.

ted, its fine. honda uses the same tie rods for all the civics up to 2000. just gotta get an alignment when youre done.

it helps to do one side at a time and then adjusting your alignment straight, then do the other side and adjust again.

Thanks for the info guys. My engine replacement project has sure turned into a good learning experience. Can't wait to get her back on the streets the next 2 weeks or so.
I've been reading my Helms every night like a good book I can't put down, heh

Btw, it's raining up here in NorCal and I'm smiling.
-Why?
Because it means I get to focus on working on my car since the weather outside sucks.
