Default At VS MT

I jus wanted to know why the At model of car are ALWAYS so much heavier then sticks models............Is the actual trans itself jus that much heavier or is there more 2 it because it doesn't seem like there'd be that much different. and since im doin at/manual conversion will I see these number differences?

PS its often as much as 85 pounds difference

there is alot more in an AT than there is in a MT. many more gears and clutches and what not. so i would say its all in the tranny

Hella complex, hella heavy, hella boring, hella pain in the *** to repair, and hella expensive. Don't waste your money unless you can't drive stick or just want a cruising car.

lol I don't use hella if you were mocking me Only for mocking purposes do I use it.

Anyway yeah it is, but some people just seem to be intimidated by it's vast erm... complexity.

Personally I'll never own a car without it. If I lose my arms I'll steer with my knee and shift with uh... a robotic arm or something. I hate auto.

Eh I think it's a bit more involved then that. I've never done the conversion myself, but I did research it slightly a long time ago and it seemed like you needed a bit more than that. Also, MC is for brakes why would you have to replace? Not saying you dont just don't see why you would. Oh, and the cluster and reverse lights also have to be wired.

Yeah you might be right, they are probably different things. I am relatively new to cars, just started messin with them a year ago, only really learning from here and messing with my car. Just haven't messed with the clutch yet.

That's a link to a auto - manual conversion I was reading when I planned on buying a CRX, which I bought a Civic instead.

Should give you a basic idea of what's involved.

If I were you, I'd just wait until you decided to do an engine swap, then get manual tranny. Would be a lot easier plust you'd already have the ecu and tranny and clutch and engine, and all you'd need would be the cluster and the new console piece for the shifter.

He's talking about the Clutch master and slave cylinders, needed for the tranny if it is hydrolic.

if youre goin with manual, PREPARE TO STALL (the car sort of shuts off). i happens to everybody. EVERYBODY. the auto transmission is heavier because youre not controlling it. it has more stuff so that the ecu or something will control it.

auto=nice lazy ride/cant handle enough power

manual=can handle more power/shifting can become reppetive for some(not me)
