does waxing prevent rusting?

think of it this way...wax protects clearcoat (in the sun) and without the clearcoat, your paint starts fading. once it fades through the primer layer, you have bare metal, which then rusts.
so in the long term, yes, wax does help. to what degree, that is dependent on your local weather (salt overspray, hot dessert sun, acid rain, etc.) moreso than waxing.
