I've had it with my daily driven Azenis. ES100's in 195 or 205?

Ok, I'm fed up. Here's the break down, I've been running Azenis on my OEM wheels for over a year now and I think it's just a waste of money. I've already bought 2 sets of them and am on my 9th and 10th Azenis' now. I Auto-X 2-3 times a month on them and last year did 2 track days.
Within the realms of racing/HPDE etc etc I love them. Enough grip for my n00b *** to enjoy and I've had no problems adjusting to them when they get extra hot and greasy.
However, on the street I think they are over kill and sloppy on our puny 6 inch wide wheels. Most of my miles are on street and as everyone knows Azenis = 10k max (except in rare occasions) tires. I'm also driving to Expo (1300 miles + each way) and I'd rather not have to deal with the constant pounding of tire to asphalt pavement for 25 hours. They make a shlode of noise and I just can't take it anymore. I have a fresh set of Azenis that I'm going to mount on my Kosei's for track and Auto X use.
Here's the issue, I'm thinking of going to ES100's but I'm hung up on what size to get. They are available in OEM size 195/55/15 and the wider 205/50/15. Now will the 205's give me the same PITA that the Azenis have. Granted I know the Azenis' are much wider than the typical 205 but will the ES100's do the same just on a lesser scale?
When I bought the caR the OEM owner had 205's mounted on the caR so I don't know what driving on 195's feels like.
Sorry for the long post. Just help a brotha out y0.
PS I'm also open to suggestions on other tire options besides the ES100's.

Opie, the es100 is a great tire for daily driving. I currently have a set mounted on my 16x7 rota's and love them. They are size 205/45/16 so i cant really compare to stock size; which ive never had either, but other then that i perfer them over the azenis for dd duties.
So as long as you have the extra set of azeni's on your stock rims ( i do too) i cant see y a 195/55/15 es100 wouldnt do the trick for you

Opie,
I would really recommend NOT getting the ES100's. I just bought a set about two - three weeks ago and have been regreting it since. Ths sidewalls are too soft and makes the steering really mushy. For regular day driving, they're not too bad, and don't do too bad in the rain, either. But for those spirited drives and auto-x's, they feel really unstable cornering and at high speeds. I'm going to sell my set and get some MX's. Mine's 195/55/15's, BTW.

I'm running the 205 ES100's on my stockies right now. Way better than what was on the car when i got it Kuhmo Ecsta's or whatever the crappy ones are. I havn't noticed anything bad about them except they suck in the snow, lol. No track/autox experience on these tires and i've never used azenis so i can't compare that for you, but from a daily driver aspect, i like em.

I'm using the ES100's 205-50-15's on the stock rimzz and for daily driving, they seem alright to me?? No complaints, and I too have never used the Azenis' so I cant really compare to them. I feel the same as knowforever

As I said, some cases see higher mileage. I however, do not
Again, the new DD tires will be for just that, daily driving. I have 205 50 15 Azenis on Kosei's for Track/Auto X.

I've got a good 25k miles of abuse on my ES100's. And not until about a thousand miles ago did they become unbearable (though I'm still driving with them). Sure, they don't stick near as well as the Azenis, but they work well enough.
es100 almost got me killed on an s road once.. like what somoene said they are a lil mushy on the sidewall..freakn oversteer n understree all ova the place.. look like i was drifting.. luckily there was no one around.
Seems to me like any cheap tire would do the job if all you care about is Noice. As far as i know and my experienced with the ES 100's in 195, I think they SUCK, but then again i was using them for auto X. They have a really soft sidewall and the grip is just not there.
In my opinion if your beginning to be concern with noise you are in the wrong car. My piece of **** seems to get louder and louder with time.

I used the ES100s in 205/50-15 for DD , compared the Azenis, the ride and noise is like a Caddy! I havent tried the 195/55, but it is a bit cheaper and if they are just your street tire, you prob dont care much about that little more grip the 205s have.
Ive also DDed the MXes and they are good too, more grip than the ES100s for sure, but a little harsher also. They do make a great backup/alternative for the Azenis too.

Stephen, you didn't mention anything about MY Cadillac-like ride quality! lol
Laugh/flame/ridicule all you want, but I kinda like my $50 195/60/15 Yokohama Avid T4s for daily driving. Sidewalls are VERY soft and NOT recommended for hauling *** around town, but they soak up poorly paved roads/p0tholes nicely. Good for me daily driving almost 60 miles a day to work and back.

I've used 205/50/15 Azenis as well as 205/50/15 ES100s. If you're looking for a decent DD tire. You can't go wrong with ES100s at all. They're not as loud as the Azenis but they don't grip quite as well. Sidewalls are softer but eh, can't complain because they're not Azenis. But ES100s are great in generally all weather conditions besides snow.

Dick
Maybe I should buy someone's used Azenis and SSR's then to prove my R-type manhood
For some reason Azenis last no more than 8k miles on my caR with me driving before they shake so bad that I think I have a bad bearings. Like I said, I have Azenis for Auto X and HPDE. When those wear away I may be forced to upgrade to some R's

Get some Kumho Ecsta 712's. Much better sidewall stiffness than ES100's, and the tread isn't near as loud when you wear them down. The tread seems to last longer as well.
I really wasn't impressed with the ES100's at all. Couldn't handle track abuse, and were loud and sloppy on the street.

i have 195/55/15 on my bone stock R, they are my second set. At FIRST, the steering is light or "mushy" ie. feels like dogshit and makes you instantly regret it, and the car doesn't grip especially well. When the tires start to break in, they stick very well, and last a fairly long time.
The only other tires I have driven my R on are the Stock reo1o's, and those are just barely any better if at all IMO. I have actually gone from reo1o, to es100, to reo1o, and now back to es100. I drive harder on the street than most, and I have only noticed more noise from the es100's when driving very spiritedly. They always did exactly what I told them to do.
Opie, I would go with the stock size.
