engine wont turn over
when i take the timing belt off and turn over the engine the piston seems to get stuck at the top and bottom. is this because i have bent valves? any help would be great because i dont want to take them out if its some other problem.

You should not rotate the crankshaft without the belt in place...
Depending on what position the cam is in,there are most likely valves
being held open by the camshaft..

well thats the only way of timing it... anyways is there a way to see if the valves are at the top since i can never seem to place the cam sprocket in the right spot does it go straight up or perpendicular to the cylinder head?
