removing instrument cluster
I have a 97 Accord that the fuel gauge has stopped working. I have purchased another cluster and would like to swap them out. However, yesterday I tried to remove the cluster and had some difficulty. I removed the screws at the top, the 2 that are behind the pop-out plugs, and the ***** for the ac,heat, etc. I can get the left side loose but the side around the hvac controls will not come out. What else do I need to remove to get the cluster out? Or please point me to a page with this info. Thanks in advance.
Okay, I've done the same for my accord when i changed it out for indigo guages...... here's what ya gotta do.... make sure to have baggies and labels for the skrews you will need it..this will also take about an hour or more to do
1) remove all swithches, Ac, Dimmer, Cruise,etc...
to do that just get a flat head screwdriver and pull them out and remove the wiring harness
2) remove skrews that should be seen through the holes where the swithes used to be
3) to get the ac cluster are lossened up from the dash, just remove the whole center console, to do this.
6) open the center console compartment/armrest remove the cover and remove screws at bottom,
7)then open cup holder pull it out, and remove screws, and pull center console away
8)remove crews from shifter plastic cover
9) the "rest" should pop out the (whole radio/clock plactic etc)
..... take a look under the dash at the open space where the clock and swithces used to be
10) remove that skrew that you see that is under the dash
11) once everything on the dash is unbolted pull on the ac and guage cluster together in a straight forward position...makesure to unplug all harnesses.....
and that should be it, and to put it back together just follow instructions backward
