6x9 speaker, need YOUR opinion
So heres the problem, I'm running a Alpine 9813 Head unit (27 watts RMS/60 peak x 4 channels) and in the front im using infinity speaker for my integra, stock size i think its around 5" (sorry i dont remember) and in the back im using alpine speaker. I'm thinking about putting some 6x9 in my cargo cover and i have a amp laying around that im going to be using it for the speakers. The amp is a alpine 4x75w amp. So the real problem is im gonna have 6 speakers with 4 channel amp and the channels from the head unit. Which speakers should i run thru the amp and which one should i run to the head unit? Also i'm in the market for some 6x9 speakers, looking more for music and less bass because im running 1 sub already and it hits pretty good already i just need some louder speaker. Which one would you guys recommend and would fit my need since the amp i have isnt too powerful, or should i throw away that amp and get a better amp with more watts? TIA sorry if it sounds lame

</TD></TR></TABLE>Get a sub insted of the second set of 6x9s , [even an 8" or 10" will be better then the 6x9s] use two ch. of the amp to run the front speakers on highpass and bridge the other two ch. into mono to run the sub on lowpass, use the HUs power to run the rear 6x9s, [as rear fill] you will get better imaging, staging, sound and bass.

in the front and rear im using stock size and i already have a 12" subs. im looking for more music not bass. From what i've read 6x9 will enhance the music and not bass? I do not have 6x9 in the car yet. I believe the front are around 5" and the back is about 6.5" or so but its not 6x9. I have infinity kappa in the front and some sort of alpine rear speaker. I want to be able to make my music sound better and louder. Right now when i turn it up and go out the car i hear more bass and hardly hear any music. I want to be able to hear the music outside about 100ft away or so.

If you want better and louder sound, think about better front speakers. [maybe componants or point source] and more power, [watts] adding another set of speakers that reproduce the same frequencies with other speakers, [that are not "coupled" together] can cancel sound, and if it's behind you, can mess the sound up real bad, phasing, staging and imaging can get so messed up that the system will sound like crap.

In car audio, most "audiophiles" will discourage using 6x9's in the back because of this simple reason...it destroys your imaging. Imagine this, your rear speakers are facing the ceiling (naturally, due to maunfacturer specs) and that sound is reflected off the ceiling and goes where? Everywhere!
If "music" is what you are really after, then get your self some components, bi-amp them (have 1 channel for tweeter, 1 for mid-range) and thats just one side! You'll have 150 watts of power on EACH side, don't bridge the channels, have one going to each tweet and mid. Then, I promise (if your comp selection is decent) music will be heard in-car and out of car much better than you can imagine.

These are good and JL recommends 150 watts to them. Also look into CDT's line of components at http://www.thezeb.com. They handle power very well and the tweets aren't as bright (that piercing feeling you get from a metal dome speaker (JL's) as opposed to a silk dome (CDT's) Hope that helps.

i think i will just amp my speakers right now. I already have infinity components and alpine rear speaker, i'll amp them and go from there. The infinity speaker i have is about 85watts and my amp is like 50x4, maybe i need a better amp but i guess its still better then using the head unit. I'll see how it goes after i amp the speaker with the amp i already have. If i need more then i will get a better amp. How good are 85 watts infinity speaker compared to all other speakers? Scale of 1-10? 1 being bad and 10 is good
