Auto tranny revs when shifting from 2nd to 3rd
I tried to be as specific as I could with the thread title. I have a 90 integra with a auto tranny. The tranny shifts find in "D" except for the 2-3 shift. The car revs when it shifts! the best way I could describe it is as if you were to change gears in a manual while leaving you foot on the gas. It scares me because if I am driving fast and it shifts fron 2-3, the more gas I give it the higher it revs. I do not want to go past the max engine speed so I need to get this problem fixed. Any help is appreciated

sounds like a slipper there.
When the trans shifts it goes to "bite down" and is having trouble so the rpms go up due to the lack of load being put on the engine due to the transmissions sipping condition.
Its just like if you had a wore out clutch on a 5speed integra. Itll do the same thing...

So what do I replace? I know when that happens in a stick I need a new clutch. I am ot familiar with automatics. A mechanic said to replace the tranny fluid.

The Transmission.
The Transmission.
Wow so I need a new tranny? I hate to sound ignorant but I guess I am when it comes to this. I thought there might be a part inside the tranny that I could order. So it is either a rebuild or replace thing huh? What happens if I continue to drive it? Looks like it might be time to do a manual swap on the daily driver...

Swap a standard in!
Yea, this happened to me on my Legend when I had it, it's just a matter of time. Just like vtecluder said, it's similar to a manual clutch, except your not doing the shifting. Time for a new tranny!

when auto transmisions error (have trouble codes) one of the ''d'' light will blink. or a led light on the TCM (trans control module) will blink. (the TCM is under the driver side dash) a mini ECM. anyhoo if it is, find out what tha code is.....if no light is flashing...looks for leaks on the trans. check trasn fluid level. leave replaceing thge whole phuckin trans as your last reosrt.
how many miles are on the trans?
when was the last time u had it serviced?
