h22a built head
hey, just wanna share my experience to see if other with a built head h22a run the same
i currently hv skunk2 stg 2 cam, valve spring and retainer, p&p head. cam gear and mill head, running around 11.5 CR
ok, thing is..when vtec engage..my AF ratio go dan rich, even chok my car..so i lean it out with my vafc and after trying a lot.. i set my vtec point to 5000rpm and from 5000rpm, i need to lean out all the way like over 10% at least. is that normal with a built head?? some of my friend with JUN cam act the same. need to lean out like 10% all the way to 8k. cuz when i had stock head, i need to add fuel after vtec..it's kind of scary to lean out that much....although my AF gauge still show it's on the rich side... also, anything i can do with the cam gear to help a bit..???? just need some opinions. thx

You need to go tune on a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor to see your actual a/f ratios and to see what your hp power curve looks like. Then you adjust the vafc to achieve the optimum a/f curve (~13.5:1 up top) and smooth out the vtec dip by moving the vtec engagement. Afterwords, adjust the cam timing for the most power and add/take out fuel if necessary.
on my buddy's civic some points its leaned out by 20%, but he did it at a dyno, and unless you have a wide band, I wouldnt risk it, are you running a feul pressure regulator? how high is the pressure turned up if you are?
i remember it's 40psi at idle. not really remember now...
after i re do my exhasut i will go dyno...
i know my af gauge is not accurate but it's a calibrate one, so it will show somehow accurate(once again, somehow accurate) when full throttle...
now the weather become warmer, lean to 15% the car feels better only..
hey. what engine ur friend hv in the civic? h22a too? built?
