stock ecu will run on limp mode since it still thinks it has
the secondaries and will try to look for it
also the car will bog out......

what are you talking about???? the ECU does not throw ANY CEL's when the secondaris are not hooked up...

i ran a stock P72 obd1 ECU for a little while after installing my edlebrock intake manifold and never had a problem...

teh ECU sends a RPM activated signal for the secondaires but has NO return signal what so ever... the motor will NOT bog down and will run just fine.. although the P72 ECU wont be the most optimal ecu for a skunk2 or edlebrock manifold it wil not cause any major noticable problem

what year is your car? can u feel it lag until the usual secondary butterflies would have opened? does it run good and did u notice a power increase?

i dont have that setup anymore... but i also ran a P72 ecu on a ITR motor with no issues.. vtec engages as normal. the ecu sends a signal for the secondaries but since theres nothign there to recieve the signal obvisouly nothign happens.. the ecu gets no return signal saying OOPS THERES NO SECONDARIES THERE so no problem there....

i had a 95 gsr motor as well as a 2001 gsr motor with no issues this way...

did u have to change anything else or buy any extra parts when installing the manifold other then gaskets? also did it re-tain all factory sensors and NO CELs?

You need longer hoses and couple them together

VTEC engagement is way too low on a P72 ecu for a single stage manifold (4500rpm @ wide open throttle). You will notice a bog in power at that point. A P61 (92-93GSR) or USDM del Sol VTEC ECU would have a better VTEC point (5700rpm @ WOT). As stated above, to maximize the potential of that manifold, you should get upgraded valve train for high(er) rpm operation and cams that give you power beyond 8krpm.

As for the check engine light, I know for certain that an OBD1 ECU does not throw a code for that, but it is possible that an OBD2 ECU might, seeing as how OBD2 is all about making our tuning lives difficult.

you might want to look into the AEBS gsr im. it was actually designed for the gsr head. and, if you don't have any REAL mods, and have no need to rev above 8200rpm, then a port matched oem gsr im w/hondata im gasket should net you good gains without any midrange loss, which is what will happen if you intall the S2 im.
