Default Engine/Exhaust Noise

I've searched around and cant seem to find any answer.

Just bough a VTEC, I had a S before and decided instead of swaping just to sell it and upgrade.

Anyway, my problem:
Engine runs/drives fine as far as I can tell but as you increase the throtle it makes a rattle/vibrating noise that doesnt sound good @ 2200 rpm and stops at 24~25, sounds just fine after 24~25. It doesnt seem to be coming from the engine. Im not familary with the h22, i was wondering if this is possible a cracked header? Or something similary. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Check to make sure all of your heat sheilds are tightly secured. Also check the flange on your header where it connects to the engine block.

That was the first place I checked, I took the front side of the heatsheild off and the noise seems to be coming from behind the heatsheild that is behind the header.

I had a greddy dragger I think it was on my Si I just sold, and for a while it would rattle on the heat sheld in the back like by the muffler. My point is that it sounded like it was comming from underneath the car by the down pipe and i fought it for awile but had a friend rev while i was under the car and found out it was in the back. But cheack all the sections of your exhaust for a rattle cause that sound like what it is.

Ive lifted the car and checked under the car and cant pin point it. It sounds like its coming from the heatsheild/header, but i can get a fix on it. It doesnt sound like the engine. Could definitly use some help, ive lifted it twice and cant seem to find it.

i got the same problem right now. but mine started when i installed my new Megan header. So i took off my cat shield which was way easy, but the problem kept going. So i aske megan for all new gaskets. I would check your gaskets for your header. I would really check the one were your cat connects to your header because when i took off my stock header there wasnt even a gasket were the header connects to the cat.

Replace all your gaskets and then get back to me. I will be changing mine as soon as then send me my gaskets and i will report back to see if the sound is keep going or not. but if that dosnt work, then ****.

Found the problem, I overlooked something when I originaly went though. It was the bracket for the header/heatshield, you have to lift the car to even be able to find it. The bolt that connected the the bracket to the block (theres two, on on each side) was loose. I had to take the reenforcement bar off to get at it but it was a easy fix.

It realy is nice when you can use a lift and every tool you can think of for an hour and only pay 4 bucks.

I seem to have a similar problem to this, sounds fine upto about 4k and as its going into VTEC phase, it makes a raspy kinda "fwaaar" lol kinda noise. I've had the heatsheild off and checked all the nuts and bolts, everythings cool, all except that i am missing one bolt from the block bracket to the downpipe flange. reckon this could be the culprit, its leaking out of the gasket?

haha I wish I got to this post earlier. I ran into the same problem awhile after I installed my headers. Turned out the gasket had cracked in two places. Just so you know this problem might not go away even if you've fixed it once. I melded the cracks in my bracket and that worked fine until I bumped while doing some donuts on the beach and it broke again. So I replaced the bracket (which you can get at your honda dealer for like $20) and again it went away. It's been about 3-4 months and the noise is back! I'm yet to get under it again and make sure it's the same bracket but I bet it is. I don't know what the deal is. Maybe just excess heat from the header makes it too hot and then exposure to the outside cools it down again too fast for it to handle I dunno.
