Default Funny idea? : SOHC Integra -

I did a search and didn't see anything.

If a DOHC can go into a civic, that means a SOHC can go into an Integra right?

It's funny as hell to think about but it can be done correct? Anyone have any info on this?

If you look around I've seen pictures of a g3 integra in Japan that came w/ SOHC. Yes it's possible, but why?

Just a thought, really.

I just came across a 97 GSR shell stripped of it's interior (dash and seats only actually), swap, and Integra suspension. It has Civic suspension at the moment.

Price : 250.00

Front end damage but honestly that's just replacing the bumper and headlights. Doesn't look like there's any frame damage.

I think a friend here has a SOHC sitting around and I instantly thought of just dropping it in.

I know it's pretty funny.

LoL.

That is really hilarious.

But it's kind of "neat" I suppose.

So how bad would it be riding on civic suspension?

And what would be the deal with me putting in a SOHC? My roommate pretty much said something about backwards mounts... not sure how that would work.

I swapped a D15B8 into a 2001 Integra Type R. Before it was said and done I built a minime with a Z6 head, Y8 manifold, Si tranny, Fidanza flywheel, Exedy clutch, cheap-*** header, and a red crinkle coated valve cover. Here are some pics the day after the swap.

I loved that damn thing, though I never got pics after I built the minime.

boost and not care about the engine? eh, if your modding for only hundreds of dollars and its an extra car why not?

hahaha, i just saw yall wrote "type R" on the engine... nice. but why would you go from the R to a sohc? what happened to the R motor?

Yeah I agree.

I don't care about someone bothering me because I have a SOHC in a newer car.

I'm trying to see what's up with it right now.

To make a long story short:

I sold the ITR motor to offset the cost of a K20A and put in the D15 as a temporary motor. I ended up having eye surgery a few months later and had to use the K20 money to cover the cost of it. Another month later I received an offer on the car and sold it.

i would have foregone the eye surgery in favor of a k20...

let this be a lesson to everyone though, get your to-be-swapped engine before you sell the stock one...

It would be very funny if a thief stole it and have a sign in the hood said "gotcha" in there.

Sorry, I know many of us are suffering from thieves, just kidding.

yeah I'm with these guys, if its cheap, and you got it laying around do it, daily driver, use the cash to build up a nice motor instead of extending yourself in hopes of getting a DOHC.

beater around for a while, let everyone laugh, then come back a month later with built turbo motor and laugh at them.

I know SOHC motors can be found for cheap, but you could also get the DOHC for not too bad a price tag either. I'm selling my b18a for 800 (full swap) and I've seen others go for cheaper depending on the condition. I don't think I'd like having a SOHC in there, but to each their own.

OT: That sucks, what kind of eye surgery? Laser to make your eyes see better? or did something happen? sry to be nosey.

I used to have a ZC SOHC in my JDM G2 ZXi (so many abbreviations in this sentance!!). Anyway, swapped it for a B16a. It was pretty quick with the ZC, but I prefer the B16a to be honest.

SOHC are ten-a-penny around here, in fact I was just looking at a 98 Teg with a 1.6 SOHC and a JDM (square lights) front end, and it was fully stock, didn't get to drive it yet though...So to answer your question, nah it's not a funny idea and yeh it'll go no prob, the g/box and driveshafts will probably have to be swapped in too, mounts shouldn't be too much of a problem, get the ones with the swap, they should do, although the front one may not line up with the chassis, I know with m B16a swap I had to make a new carrier bracket.

Best of luck with it!

So how did it run? How under powered is it? I'm thinking of doing this to save gas.

at least turbo the D...much better. i've thought about it for my DA, but i think i would rather get a b16 for cheap. i would still prefer a b18c1 though. the D won't have much torque or power, unless it's built like crazy. but, then it's about the same power level as a b18c1...maybe.
