Headgasket blew, need instruction...
Hey guys,
I have been searching for a while and can only find tips when changing out headgasket. To begin with, I found out I blew it when I found coolant in the oil, I had only been turbo'ing for about 2 days and hadn't really gotten on the car at all but then it died. So, I was wondering if anybody has a good thread/instructional manual or something for removing the headgasket, thanks guys.

Helms...point blank..everything u need to know. I used it for my head/headgasket install..pay close attention to the torque settings and sequences for the headbolts and cam holder bolts.

Cool, I have the one on cd so I will consult that however since you have done it, how hard is it? I have about a moderate mechanical ability, I have done a clutch install, turbo install, electrical wiring skills, etc. Thanks!

I'd check everything out...it may not be just a head gasket problem. Get your clearances checked by a machine shop with a precision tool...no sense doing it and having it happen again.
And you're boosting..is it sleeved? Might as well do it now and save doing it again and blowing it.

Yea, thats what I was thinking, its not built now, so I should just suck it up and buy rods, sleeves, and pistons now to prevent anything else bad. Thanks guys, keep the suggestions coming!

yeah
yeah
took me 9 hrs, i marked everything so I would know where to put it back. When I did mine, i removed the old head w/the intake manifold and put on another head w/im attached so I had to remember all the im hoses etc..This was done on an h23 also there a few bolts and plugs underneath the head I had to loosen to pull the head. The manifold nuts gave me some problem, I also changed the timing belt and wp so add on another 4hrs

Actually, my head came off really easily and the piston heads had major carbon build-up which I expected but cylinder 2 and 3 were housing some water on top of the pistons! My setup is going to be something along the lines of darton sleeves, eagle h-beam rods, je 9.0:1 pistons, and je piston rings with a cometic headgasket and arp head studs. If anybody has any suggestions or good/bad experience with these parts please let me know!! Thanks
