Default Leaking Antifreeze, can't locate...

Hey,

I have antifreeze leaking from somewhere, I can't see where in the world it's coming from. It's not the upper hose and as far as I can see it's not to the lower radiator hose either.

It is close to the right front tire where the leak is happening, it almost seems as if it's coming from a hose underneath my battery if that makes any sense. It's a 96 Accord LX so any immediate responses would be appreciated.

Yeah I think I found it, it's a hose that runs from the block to the firewall, just got to figure out how to get the SOB out.

That one is no fun to get too, but not too hard to do.

Remove top of the air cleaner w/ hose to Intake , once drain the coolent from the rear engine drain plug (or lower hose) , remove the two bolts holding the Termo in (follow top rad. hose and you will find it) , then bam right there easy to get too without too much in your way.

Remove the pinch clips, twist to break free at the point they connect to pipe, remove the 7/8ths Heater hose, replace with factory hose or 7/8ths heater hose 1ft 7 3/16ths long (for a 91 accord its that long), replace pinch clips (always hated those things), reinstall what was removed to get to it.

When refilling with Anti-Freeze make sure you run a line like a brake bleeder to a can, crack the bleeder zerk for the cooling system ontop of the thermostat housing, watch to see that no more bubbles are comming out when you fill the system.

Just remember a small air pocket there can take out your head gasket from over heating. One thing Honda's have in common with Chevy. Get an air pocket and cook your motor.

I followed most of that last reply, I appreciate it. I got it replaced and all of that good stuff.

Took it for a spin and it did fine until I slowed down and got to lower idle then the gauge went back up.

Let it cool down, drove it and almost made it home okay until I again got to lower speed and lower idle, then it proceded to climb again.

I went ahead and topped it off w/ the rest of the 50/50 mix and will test it out tomorrow. It took about 3/4 of it the first time, so maybe this will help.

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

The last overheat could have been a bubble in the coolant, if the leak persists perform a pressure test and pinpoint the leak.

Did you try a new thermostat? Maybe yours is stuck.
