that part broke and so i cant open/close the door from the inside anymore.. i think theres a cable in there that snapped or something, but is this a common problem among eg owners? how can i fix it?? do i rip that part off? help!
you need to remove the door panel so you can get to the assembly.either the rod came off the handle assembly,or you broke the lever.you can get the handle off Ebay for cheap,or reconnect the rod if that's the problem.
to remove the door panel you need to remove the handle trim ring(one screw),door cup(one screw),window crank(clip on backside)and plastic screw below the mirror.then pull straight out on the bottom of the panel to release the clips that hold it on,then pull the whole panel straight up to remove it.

both of mine broke, and im happy it did. i have auto door locks that are connected to the alarm.
i say im happy they broke because if u have your window slightly down, and some guys uses old school way of getting into your car, they wont be able to get in, since theyll try to use a hanger and pull the lock loose. since its broken, it wont work!
but to answer, your question, im pretty sure its the plastic thing connecting to the rod that broke. it happens when someone is holding on to the door lever open and tries to unlock that clip AT THE SAME TIME.
unless its the rod that jus came loose, u will have to buy a new plastic thing. good luck! if you have an alarm with auto door locks installed, i might suggest leaving it broken on purpose!

Take off the door panel and look. Its not hard. Three screws and a bunch of pops. Looks like one of thise screws is already gone lol. the other two are in the door handle and a plastic pop screw in the upper right of the door. Now look for the rods. It looks like it just popped off the back of the handle your holding with your finger there... Might just pop back in, if not, new inside door handle. Actually on a second look, your pulling it out???? Theres a screw BEHIND the handle there... unscrew it and that whole thing your bending the **** out of comes off.

NO. Only remove the door panel and everything is visible enough to from there. Two rods just hanging there, I replaced my brothers about two weeks ago.

You're asking for a repeat problem, especially gluing a piece that requires motion to function.

Switching over to power windows isn't going to resolve the issue with the lock. Removing the piece is a lot easier than what you're thinking, if anything just replace the entire metal piece that holds on both the handle and the lock/unlock switch. I picked one up at that junkyard for like $10 if even that.
If it's just that little clip that holds the rod to the mechanism, you could probably make something work or easily find it at the junkyard. I'll bet nearly all 80's - 90's Hondas use it. BTW, just take out that one screw holding the plastic cover over the door handle. No need to remove the whole interior door trim.
stripes777: they can still easily get into your car with a coat hanger or they can even pick your lock. There's a rod connecting your door key cylinder to the latch, pop that off and then cut off the little loop that its connected to at the latch. Then you'll be as safe as you think you are now.

If I actually go out and spend the $5 or 10 to get this part for you, are you going to want it or leave me holding it, looking at it everyday on top of my desk?

You're missing what I am saying. I am asking if when I go to the junkyard next time and pick this item up for YOU, are you going to leave me holding this part?
