Default For Those of You With HIGH Mileage. +200,000miles

Hey Guys,

Well my 252,000mile stock D15B7 needs to last me through the hot summer while I take the time to build a boosted D16. The engine runs perfectly now. I can't complain. I don't want to spend ANY money on this engine. I maintain it flawlessly, oil changes every 2000 miles, coolant is topped off and tranny fluid is new.

I'd just like to know what are some of the things that began to break down when your engine reached a ver high mileage?

Thanks.

A lota dumb ****. It would rev up and down and the TPS would get stuck mostly. Annoying leaks at the oil pan gasket and valve cover. I didnt give a **** about mine though. Watch for symptoms of a bad head gasket... happens a lot on D15's.

you're not even close to high mileage.
i had almost 400k miles on my D15 when i took it out.i then installed it in a woman's commuter EF,which has since had about 50k more miles put on it.
plenty of my friends also have Honda engines with that much or more miles-none of them maintained as well as yours seems to be.
keep up the regular maintenance, and you'll be fine for a long time.
to answer your question:assuming no damage from abuse, you'd probably wear out the rings before anything, and start burning oil and losing compression.how many hundreds of thousands of miles that would take is a good question.

I just picked up a 95 CX (Cdn model w/ D15B7) with over 43x,xxxkm & still running strong. The previous owner babied it which is great. All I have to do is keep an eye on it until I can afford a monster NA motor.

Dude, no offense, but changing oil every 2000 miles is too much. If its leaking, topping off is bad. Check out http://www.amsoil.com for the best motor oil out there. Check the bearing on the dizzy, thats known as a possible problem area. Props for your high mileage motor too.

I mean I take great care of the car, but I'll still beat the crap out of it to have a little fun sometimes. To be honest, I push it a couple of times a day. Not in the straightaway or anything, but trying to find the fastest line around familiar turns, etc..

And, AND, this motor has beaten my buddy's LS with CAI!! I was gutted at the time (converting gray to black, not weight reduction, lol)
