Default 215/45/15s on GSR fat 5s?

Hey guys, I'm going to have to buy some tires hear in a couple weeks and was curious how many if any are running 215s on 15" rims? will they fit on stock GSR rims? Also, it's going on my 94 gsr if that makes a difference. I thought I heard something about spacers needed. is that true? Thanks

Are you lowered at all? If not, it shouldn't be a too big of an issue. But I really wouldn't get anything wider than 205's on stock rims. You'll get a very mushy feel when cornering, because your 6" rims will not compliment the 215's too well. Go with stock 195's or 205's, at most.

That makes sense. I am lowered and have always had 205s with no problem. If my wheels were 15 x 6.5" would 215s work?

Even with a 6.5", I'd only go 205's. 7" would be more adequate for a 215.

WTF are you talking about? 205/50/15 and 215/50/15 comes the closest to the stock 195/55/15. With 205/55 and 215/55, you'll throw off your speedo even more. And how exactly does the size of tire mess up your gearing?

with the 205's and the 215's it increases the width of the tire and won't mess with the speedo, when you decrease the height of the tire youll mess with the speedo and you'll lose cushioning between the road and the rim

if i'm not mistaken the height of a 205/50 tire differs from a 215/50 tire.

nope 205 and 215 is the width of the tire 50 and 55 is the side wall height

also when i had my fat 5's i ran the stock size tires to keep the whole diameter of the wheels the same as my 14's

the '50 and 55' are the aspect ratio fo the width. so yes they are different heights. also, the overall diamater of your wheels changes your final gear ratio.

It's not exactly the height; it just helps you calculate the height because it's the aspect ratio. So if a 205/50 and 215/50 Brand X from the same company are put next to each other, the 215mm-wide tire will be taller.

You're like the fifth person on Honda-Tech I've ever seen who has admitted to being wrong about something. You have my respect.

Changing the tire's diameter changes the effective final drive ratio compared to stock size tires. A larger tire effectively lowers the final drive ratio, making the car accelerate slower. A smaller diameter tire effectively raises it, and makes acceleration a bit quicker.
