Default Ebay intake or name brand??

Hey, i kno this topic has probably been touched somewhere in the forum, but i tried searching and couldnt find any helpful info. Is it worth it to spend the $115 or so on an AEM short ram intake for my 00 GSR from ebay, or should i go for the $50 or cheaper ebay short ram intake with upgraded filter (K&N or something else)?

The only thing that holds me back from the ebay brand intakes is fitment and whether or not the product will line up correctly...I kno filter the main thing, but i just want to make sure everything fits right and will work good with my car.

Also, what about the tenzo r CAI? are those good?, will that work with an AEM bypass valve? thanks

get the 20 dollar ebay intake and buy the $50 GENUINE K&N filter and you are set. Ive been using the same one on two different cars for like 4 years. NO NEED TO WASTE BUCKS ON EXPENSIVE SHORT RAMS.

I did a search for ebay intake (archived) and it returned 56 results

Obviously not all what ur looking for but I saw a few that were asking for opinions or giving their feedback about their newly purchased Ebay intake

I bought a CAI from ebay and the fitment is terrible. Now i just made it a shortram with a K&N filter and it fits fine and is still cheaper than a name brand short ram. I say go ebay if money matters to you.

as long as you have a good filter, CAI tubing is basically all the same, so no need to pay for the AEM name if you don't feel the need to.

people say it doesn't matter, but do some dyno tuning and comparing and you'll see that there is a difference in performance. it's your personal preference...go with what you want. IMO brand name, but not aem sri. aem sri=over rated

The performance difference if any is very minimal. Remember a CAI is just metal tubing, nothing more. Since these generic intakes are copies of the name brands I say go with an eBay intake.

you'll get at most 1 hp difference with a name brand over ebay. Is that worth 100 extra bucks to you?

the performance is mostly in the type of metal(alluminum for less heat soak and cools faster) used and the type of filter

id say no-name ebay one with a quality filter

I've already been through this with other people and don't feel like arguing again. There is more than a 1 hp difference between generic and brand name intakes (some). I only know this because I've dynoed 4 dif intakes on my sc crx. I got 7 more hp on a colder day (45 F) with a weapon-r sri, over a cheap ebay intake, 5 more than a comptech, and near 4 four than both aem and injen sri. Those gains may not be alot, but are noticable. Alot of intakes perform the same, I agree, but not all are equal in performance gains. This dyno was on an fi car, so it may be different with na. Don't care if you don't believe me, but try it yourself and see!

id just like to know how a name brand intake will net you more power over a ebay type intake...its just a bent peice of tubing with a filter...the element is what nets you gains

are there different sizes for K&N filters or is it a one size fits all deal?...im down for getting the ebay intake, but i just wanna know if the filter will fit it. Also, are ebay SRI a good fit?, i read someone's comment saying that it was a terrible fit, but they said that was for a CAI. As long as the ebay SRI fits well and will attach well with a K&N filter, ill go for it...im kinda squeezed for $$

k&n makes filters in every possible size and shape, and then some. find someone who already has an intake, measure their specs, then go to the k&n website, get the part number and then order it. ask if you have questions. i've got an ebay sri tube and a k&n filter

Hey man...its what the dyno read and again it was on a supercharged car. I said what you said too, but I proved myself wrong on the dyno. Intakes are not all the same regardless of what people want to think.

thats kool....i think the onlything different is the inner diameter of the intakes that cause more power....iuno thats why im designing my own intake

Im actually looking at an ebay intake that comes with a legit K&N filter--its $75 shipped. In the title description it says fits 94-01 integra, but it doesnt specify which model integra. I emailed the seller and asked if the intake was for a gsr or for a non-vtec integra...im waiting on a response. Either way, will the intake fit my GSR if it is non-specific intake, or will i have problems? I dunno if there is a difference in the fitment of intakes between an LS and GSR..is there?

Listen to him or me, but i would go with the CAI and just change the filter......the CAI fit perfect for me.

an aem or injen intake short ram will not be much different then an ebay one. Mainly being Aem takes time to perfectly bend to the car, etc. Cold air intakes should deffinently be bought brand name for several reasons.
