ls/vtec questons

i have a b18a block with sleeves and bored over to a 2.0. forged rods and forged pistons. i just bought a b16 head that has been completely gone through by a machine shop with new valves and everything for 375 dollars(that includes all sensors and intake mani and throttle body.(good deal) i am wondering what it will take to get this head on my block? also what goes wrong with ls/vtec. i have head that they dont last very long. why is this? what can i do to prevent this? what steps do i need to take?
