I've been hearing a rattling noise everytime I go over any little bump in the road. So I checked all obvious noises, took everything out the trunk..etc.. Some one on here suggested that it might be my axel. I look and wasn't really sure what to look for. I didn't see anything that i tought was out of the norm. So does anyone have a pic or any idea what i should be looking for. As far as an axel making a noise anytime i hit a bump..or are there any more suggestions as to what would cause that noise(rattle)..thanks

 

axels dont rattle- as for your sound where does it sound like it is comming from- rattling sounds more like some thing in the hub, from end or in the engine bay !

 

The rattling noise is coming from the rear passenger side..

 

well that deff eliminates any axel theory no axels in the rear lol- control arm ( bad bushings some thing caught in the hub etc take the tires off and look

 

Well I took the rear wheel off..Didn't really see anything weird..My next step is to take the spring/strut off, and see if anything is loose. If it is a bushing issue. How hard would it be to change myself.

 

i have an aftermarket exhaust and mine rattles when i hit bumps... the pipeing hits the bottom of my car. If its not that another problem i had was a broken axel or just bad bushings.do u have coilovers? if so they might be outa place or put on wrong. check ur bolts on the top of the shocks and srping. iv had the same problem and that was my problem

 

Don't have coilovers..but i'm gonna check the bolts on top of the shocks..Its the only thing i can think of right now. Because other than that everything else looks normal. I'll try and take some pics this afternoon.

id put my money on some nuts loose on the top of the strut.

 

Ok that's where i'm gonna check..As soon as i leave work..Climb in the trunk and see whats what..worse case situation..i have to take the whole strut completly off and make sure..correct..?

 

make sure everything is torqued down pretty good. same **** happened to me. I went to put some eibach springs on and i could take the two nuts off by hand. all the vibration and stuff can cause them to loosen up over time

 

that happend to me once... i even used an air gun.
