Default Arturbo really is "The Art of Turbo"

If any of yall have been paying attention to my posts recently you would know that I was very upset with my car.. It was horribly slow, just slightly faster then a GSR.. I was soo pissed cause we couldnt seem to figure out what my problem was.. I was talking with Art on AIM and heres what we said, " DIRep972: Im selling my car to get an LS1! DIRep972: LS1 LS1 LS1 Arturbo: Ok you said the fighting words, lets get your car working"

So fast forward to today, First I want to thank Dustin for making the comment about how inline fuel pumps get extremely loud when the polarity is hooked up backwards.. I pointed it out to Art and we put that on the list of things to check.. First thing today we checked the polarity.. WHAT DO YA KNOW? It was backwards.. turned out when i bought the fuel pump they had the black wire going to + and the yellow to - so without thinking about it I just grounded black(learn from my mistakes yall and never judge just by color, always check the polarity).. So we take the car out and instantly it feels faster, it has so much more ***** now.. Then I turned the boost up to 8psi and OMG torque steer and wheel hop are the new enemy.. I am soo lucky I didnt blow my poo poo up, running a backwards inline and im sure my stock intank is screwed by now.. I have to say I have a new love for hondas, its amazing my poo poo has held together and the oddest thing about it is i check my plugs weekly, no detonation but i think its because ive only been running 4psi 90% of the time.. 4k miles, 2 1/2 months w/ a backwards fuel pump, its amazing..

Now to the good part..Arts Kill.. My friend comes over w/ his LS1 TA(ive never seen him loose) and I bring up him racing Art, I did not know what to expect, I mean I knew Arts car was fast but so was my friends Trans Am.. So i kinda threw out the subject and both parties excepted the Challenge.. btw this is not a stock LS1, his mods are Ram Air, borla exhaust, cut cats w/ mac headers/strait pipes and all the GM free mods.. the night before I saw him run away from a stock LT1 TA from a 40-120.. So we go out on the highway and im in the Trans Am, there was a bit of heavy traffic but they finally got some space.. Art let the TA punch it first, I hear Arts poo poo start to scream, im thinken to myself DAMN i hope my car sounds that good, top of 2nd Art is at the TA's door, top of third Art has pulled even and he throws it in 4th and walks in front a car length.. My friend was soo surprised and at the same time sooo impressed, poo poo so was I.. After thinking about getting an LS1 and seeing/hearing Arturbo beat him just put a smile on my face for the rest of the day..

cliff notes: Art saves the day, kills an LS1 and fixes my car.. You cant ask for many better days then that..

Sweet...LS motors must be damn lucky when it comes to running lean...cause like i told you before, for a month or two i was running no FMU or extra pump. And yet i still have 200 compression across the board. Great to hear you got everything running good...now it's time to take her to the track and run 13's!

I've stiffenend my suspension, with a type r front lower,LSD, and new tires. Wheel hop is nil, but I have wheel spin, especially in 2nd after 5500 RPM. It seems cool until a SVT cobra pulls on you. I love your higway runs, I've pulled on all 4bangers, but never had the chance to run against an eights wide open, although I can hear my motor through the firewall reving hign in 4th can you ?
Steve

ps I love the poo poo euphamism.

pps I can relate with your 'art'

ppps my fuel pump is loud, but I guess its relative.

pppps I will post my datalog soon, I tried tonight but my disc was bad.

If you put your car back the way it was I'll race ya. I mean, we'd be even since I'm running massive rich and there seem to be other small problems here and there

hmm, what did your car feel like when the pump was wired wrong? My friend did a turbo install on a 98 prelude SH and for some reason the car just absolutely had no top end pull. It felt like the car was either running on 3 cylinders or the ignition timing was severely retarded. I looked at their install and I didn't see anything visibly wrong and basically I was stumped. I wonder if he could be suffering from the same problem you were.

well at first on 4lbs of boost my car was pretty fast, but that was 90psi my stock pump was trying to supply with the inline in the way.. But then the car just got horribly slow over time and it was like a progressive thing as the intank wore out.. Im going to hurry up and get my walbro in their just in case..

I cant believe how stout my motor has held up either pureteg, There were times when i was even spiking to 10lbs.. I AM SOOOO lucky.. but im sure this whole ordeal has not helped out the long term life of the motor and thats why im planning my build up already..
