///20D VS. D70\\\
Here's the dilemma. im about to get a camera and im stuck on which one to buy.. after researching and seeing what people have to say I've narrowed it down to a canon D70 or a 20D. if anyone who owns either camera or shot with both could give some insight about which one they liked better.. ie-pic quality, user friendliness, ect. i know the 20D is about 500 bucks more than the D70, but is it worth the extra money to pick that one up instead cause if so, i have no prob saving up a little more cash. like i said any insight what so ever would be sooo much appreciated
you win with either or. if you are starting i would advise investing into the cheaper body and getting better lenses.
the canon vs nikon debate will go on forever, the bottom line is you can't go wrong with either one. i personally have a 20d.

Get whichever has the better ergonomics/interface for you. Meaning, make sure you find a place that has both and go play with each. Try changing settings and figuring how to navigate through the cameras options. Whichever you prefer is the one to get.

The first thing I'll give you is this (taken from Steve's signature):

With that I'll pretty much say it's all really up to your post processing procedure to get the most out of what you have. Like others have said, it's really up to you whether or not you go with Nikon or Canon; everyone has their own reasons why they choose either. There are a handful of 20D owners here such as myself, Jason, Len, Trung, etc, while the D70 guys are all over too like Steve and some other guys. Oh well, what do I know all my pics suck anyways.

I would suggest looking into the Canon REbel 350XT. One hell of a camera at that price level.
Heres a side by side camparo of the 2

The XT seems like a great camera, has alot of the characteristics of the 20d, but it is freaking tiny. I played with one at Bestbuy awhile ago and it felt like it was a Fisher Price camera or something.
Just my .02 on the XT

Hmm, I never had a chance to pick one up yet. The old 300D felt OK. I figured Canon would've improved on the build for the 350XT, gotta play with it for myself one day.
But the picture quality between the two is so close, I would definitely save some money and go with the 350XT.

I personally like smaller light cameras. My D30 is freakin' huge and really heavey. Wearing the strap around your neck feels like having a gallon of milk chained to you. I guess it depends how you'll be using it if that's a factor or not.
Damn all you Canon ******.
True, Nikon's menus aren't as easy to navigate as Canons. However, the D70's primary and secondary command dials are used as shortcuts to bypass the use of the menus. I've probably used the menus on my D70 twice since I've owned it.
Main things to consider:
-8MP vs. 6MP
-3fps vs. 4fps
-Canon kit lens vs. Nikon kit lens
Oh yeah, and read the articles on both cameras on dpreview.com.

It's so hard to tell which is better. We're comparing apples to oranges. What's better, BMW or Mercedes? Depends...it's comes down to personal preference I think.
I hope for their "Best image quality" comparison they used the EXACT same lens on each camera. Otherwise the results are merely subjective.

its all on whos behind the camera and the computer. i suck at both. so that means i gotta learn to use the camera and computer better. constant learning process. and also learning to adapt to environment.
btw im a d70 user myself.
