Default Oil situation on the 96 Civic.

Do 1996 Civic DXs have two sets of wires here and here or is this correct?

Also are all of this wiring just rigged up or is it just missing its black tubing. I thought it looked rigged, but apparently on at least a few cars's wires look like these wires underneath those black hoses. I'm not about to cut mine open to compare and I just wanted to know if anyone knew.

I think that A/C wires definately look iffy, but I think someone was trying to give the car A/C because DX don't come with Air as far as I know. Any help would be appreciated. I'm kinda scratching my head here.

It runs beautifully which is why I'm wondering if this could be stock wiring without the housing or maybe it's just a really good rewire job. Plus if it was a rewire job then they took the trouble to match colors. It's easiest to see on the thermostat housing. I'm hooking the car up to scanner tomorrow to make sure it's running normal.

There's definately some iffyness going on. Take a look at the one with the external fuse, why would Honda put an external fuse one inch from a fuse box? In that same picture and the one following it, you can see where someone has grounded something where Honda didn't put a factory ground. There are several other things, but some of that wiring is definately ghettofied.

Yeah I thought it looked odd. It's not missing anything on those two clips though is it?

It runs great so I'm not going to mess with it. If I had the time with it I'd figure out what each wire does I would.

The A/C has no belt and I don't even think the switch is plugged since the light doesn't turn on when you push it. The car doesn't have an alarm or auto start, but it might have at one point. It has the left overs of an aftermarket sound system.

its a poor install on an aftermarket a/c system the wires appear to be all related.

Well maybe I'll try disconnecting some of the wires and seeing what happens. It has some wires running through the undercarriage, so maybe if it did have an alarm they were running to a sensor in the trunk. I'll exam the trunk more and see if I see signs of an alarm.

Algerian Engineering??

Well. I just went through the trunk and didn't see any odd wires in it. Now that I think of it, it wouldn't make sense to run alarm wires outside the car. They wires under the car are about 14 gauge and can't think of what they would be for.

So what I'm getting is that, the car isn't missing any stock wiring and those extra wires are either from an alarm, or someone trying to convert the car to have A/C.

And to me it looks like maybe those thermostat houses wires got snagged and cut and they just spliced it back together.

let me think? Is it a z6 swap or a mini-me? Is the A/C system not original?

Besides that I think the only part that's wrong with a car is that it's automatic (I'm sorry I had to say that).

96-98 DX models have AC, mine came stock with it. It looks like some kinda work was done to that one but to answer your question yes it comes with AC.

mini-me?? What are you talking about. The engine is the D16Y7.

So it could have come with A/C. Thanks. One question down. Now I guess I just need to figure out what those wires are.

Well I'm telling you that I bought mine brand new and it has AC. Looks to me as if someone pieced together that engine/ AC. Maybe some don't but I am positive some DX do.

Alright. I figured out what all the wiring was after cloeser examination. The car did not have A/C when it was bought and after looking at the compresser, you can easily tell it's aftermarket. I have one more problem though. I changed the oil and I was so glad to have finally finished up with this car that after I finished I noticed that the company that delivered the oil to me sent me 3 quarts of 10W-40 and 1 quart of 5W-30 instead of 4 quarts of 5W-30. Does anyone know if this is bad or will the 5W-30 just thin out the 10W-30 a little. I still have the car so if this is a big deal I'll just have to drain it and refill and pay for the oil out of my pocket.

I don't know everything about wiring but that doesn't look anything like anything that I've ever seen.
