Strange Popping noise after Tein install
Ok, last week I installed the Tein SS w/ pillow ball upper mounts on my wifes 03 Si. After drive it for a week, I notice today that there is a strange popping noise in the rear driver side suspension. Kind of like what it would sound like if the upper shock mounts werent properly bolted down. While we are driving I rip off the cover over the upper mounts covering the shock piston mount, and place my hand on both the shock mounts and the shock piston mounts. I notice the shock mounts are solid but I can feel an ever slight vibration in the center piston mount. On that side I did have to replace the sway bar end link but I triple checked it was tightened but I did add a Type R rear sway. I also checked the lower shock mount and the coilover mounts and all are sound and tight. Any idea what this could be? Could it be the piston shaft hitting the little sleeve in the stock shock mount or is it the popping of the shock itself? Friend of mine had a WRX with Tein FLex and he said he had this noise but it was normal. Also I have the struts all set on 8 out of 16. Rear is at 37mm and front is at 32mm. WTF is up.
idk if this helps, but i had clicking noise evertime i hit a bump, shortly,i found out that the washer below the upper mounting plate was sitting the wrong way or was installed incorrectly.
I dont have popping noise but squeaking noise in my rear driver side. I took the whole damn thing back out and reassembled it but I could still hear the noise. I think its just the mount rubbing on the rubber that covers the top of the spring. I need to put some kind of grease or something... sorry just had to let it out, the noise is so... annoying.. I hope your problems work out as well as mine.. btw I just have teins basics

I had that noise on my front driver side after I had Tein basic installed. I took it back to the shop and found out that they forgot to remove a plastic ring that sits on top of the suspension from the factory OEM. Once they removed and put it on top of the Tein, the popping noise stopped. Good luck.

Not to sound retarded, what do you mean tightened? Also, I made sure I swapped everything over from the stock suspension per Tein's instructions. I mean it isn't really a popping sound though as I said it is kinf like threads of something are running on something. The thing is everything is tightened properly and in there true. Strang strange things.

No the inside of the wheel is not making contact. It does not do it at highway speeds nor does it contact on smooth roads.
are the springs preloaded when you got them? BTW. tein never made SS applications for our cars, just the regular civics, and the shock assemblies are a little different.

Ok I figured out what it was. The rubber dust shield was rubbing along the threads of the coilover. Trimmed it up and everything is good now.
