Default 195-55-15 vs. 195-50-15

just a quick question on these tire sizes. I see that the 195-50-15 are cheaper than 195-55-15, is there any downside running the 195-50-15 beside car height being lower than before? should I just stick with the 195-55-15?

thanks

The 195-55 is exactly the same height for your stock tire size, but IMO the 50's look better and you have a much better selection

Yes. Your speedometer and odometer will both read 3.3 percent higher than actual.

if you like comfort more than performance, stick with the 55 series...50's feel harder on the road...

50s - slightly cheaper, slightly lighter, lower price may be lost in gas since your gearing will be thrown off a little bit, more agressive looking, less comfy, less protection when you hit a pothole

55s - the opposite of everything above

forgot the 50 will have a slight cornering advantage, but a slight acceleration disadvantage

wouldn't the smaller overall diameter of the 50 series give better acceleration?

true, my bad. i was thinking of sidewall flex, which would be beneficial in acceleration for the 55

Are you sure that the price would be lower for the 50's? I was always under the impression that tires with a lower aspect ratio would be more expensive.

That's because you are usually choosing between a WIDER tire and a lower aspect ratio vs a narrower tire with a higher aspect ratio (e.g. 205/50-15 vs 195/55-15).

Makes sense, thanks for clearing it up.
