a lot of people say the 96-98 hatchback rear bumpers are exactly the same as the 99-00 hatchback bumpers. others say they are slightly different. i searched but i dont know what is truely right still. does anyone here know the true answer?

The whole front end from the 96-98 is different from the 99-00. The rear bumper is the same I do believe.

 

Rear bumpers are the same, but the front bumpers on the 99-00 are different to accomodate the larger grill and different (slightly) headlights. They also have the louvers/vents/scoops, whatever you want to call them, beside the opening for the radiator.

 

People keep telling me the rear bumpers are different also. I can't see the difference.

They are visually different, the 99-00 has a little bit of a "lip" on the rear bumper, it curves outward instead of inward like the 96-98. But the are completely interchangable with no problem

 

i think there all the same
