Default Vtec wont engage

Alright, ecu code 22 pops up when i check it,
here it is, i just had cams, valves, titanium retainers, and valves installed with a 3 angle valve job,
Car doesnt have Vtec and it cuts out at 6500 rpm in 3rd gear, i did an oil change and checked the vtec pressure switch which is fine....i dont know what to do
Any one have suggestions??????
Help me

Thank You

22*- Accord Civic CRV CRX Del Sol Odyssey Prelude
94-98 92-98 n/a n/a 93-97 98 93-98`
VTEC Oil Pressure Switch
defective circuit or unplugged / defective oil pressure switch

Check your wiring again.... check your harness ground....
Reset the ECU and go again. recheck your codes.

Its either wiring or the unit is shot

when u say unit, u mean the ECU or the actual solenoid? or just the switch

when he says unit he means the oil pressure sensor....so either the wiring to the oil pressure sensor has a problem or the oil pressure sensor itself went bad...try replacing the oil pressure sensor....if that doesnt work then you have the fun fun fun task of tracing wires

vtec will not work without a oil pressure sensor thats working properly

Thx 2k.Civic
Check the Oil pressure sensor... i assume with all that headwork you have some gauges with which to monitor and protect your investment , is your oil pressure gauge reading properly?

Keep in mind this could be just as simple as forgetting to plug in a wire on your harness, trace your harness. it isn't very hard to do.... Then you get to start swapping parts.

I'd doubt its your ecu if it was working before you pulled the head.

I also assume that when you say it cuts out a 6500rpm in 3rd, it cuts out in all gears.... your car is in limp-mode

hmmm when my car was in limp i could have sworn it did it in all gears... does it throw the code instantly @ idle? or do you actually have to put load on the motor?

the bane of my existance has been bad harness and other grounds... check your grounds, they've caused me WAY to many problems.

Have you traced your entire harness? every single wire is where it should be? and the harness ground (bolts to the top rear of the tranny, like 8 wires) make sure that its a clean contact and tight. er maybe not tranny, where the lower rad hose goes? help me out here, i can picture it but im at work and my car's still in storage.

what chassis, motor, ecu (obd0,1,2?) are you running? Also, you can rev over 4k on a p28 and p13 in limp mode, and I don't see why you couldn't on any other.

Actually yeah, In an 88' hatch with a b16a motor, LS trans we had an issue where the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) was registering his speed but for some reason vtec wouldn't engage and he was still able to rev the engine out to about 7k in each gear, He ended up aquiring another VSS and that put it right...

Does the speedo work? are all the other sensors registering?

Im not entirely sure what replacing the cat with a test-pipe would have to do with a vtec-oil pressure code.... but maybe....

Do you have an oil pressure guage? is it reading proper?

Also Just realized that we have no details on your car... that might help a bit...... year, make, Engine type, tranny type... what other mods... etc, all information you can give us will help us help you.

depends on the cel code....if ecu has major fault it will not go over 4k....ive chiped probably a couple hundred ecu's and have seen it all...

im also a reseller for hyperducktuning/hondata for all your ecu needs *shameless plug*

find someone with a known good map sensor and switch it just to try....if trying a known good sensor still produces problems then you know its not the sensor and you can continue to look elsewhere for the problem...wiring ecu connector pins etc

i use crome which is a more mature program with way fewer bugs...but yes you can disable the map sensor with custom program...
