Default Is your car a DRINKER ?

Does your car drink gas fast ?

Does the higher the octane level cause the gas to be used up faster ?

How much gas do you pick in you car a week ?

Lastly how highly modified is your car ?

In my accord-

I go through some gas if I drive hard, otherwise I get pretty good gas mileage.

I use 87- it is my understanding that using a higher grade won't really make that much of a difference unless you are FI or using N20, or have a high compression. Since none of that is me, I use 87. As far as a higher octane eating up more power- I could only take a guess at that one, and I don't want to give you false info, therefore someone else can answer that better than I.

I put $10-20 in my car, depending on how hard I drive.

My car isn't highly modified as far as the engine goes..... K&N drop in with removed resonator and custom intake piping, DC Sports header, and a universal muffler with 2.25" cat-back from my local midas........ just your basic bolt on's.

1. It only sucks gas when I drive it hard. Normally, I get pretty decent mileage. (22 mpg or so around town, 32 mpg or so on a road trip.)

2. No. Not at all. Some people claim that higher octane gas actually improves their mileage, but I have my doubts.

3. Depends on how far I've driven and how I've driven.

4. Bone stock Vigor.

I avg about 33 mpg on my CAI equipped (soon to be turbo) Civic EX. So you could say it is NOT a *drinker*, though it's driver IS a drinker. I make any immediately located beer disappear very quickly!

1. not really, when im drivin normal (weekdays).. weekends are another story...
2. i use 93octane (the only thing they got here 'cept 89 and 87octane).. not nessesarily, it depends on what car u have and whether or not it requires it
3. i drive just about 240-250 miles/week... and always use just 3/4 tank.. i fill up the tank to the max on sunday, the next sunday it'll be at 1/4.. do the math
4. see below

living in a country (Aust.) with standard octane of 92 and a "premium" octane of 98 - i can tell you that the higher the octane the more MPG, better performance and more advanced timing...

t..

i have a JDM integra SiVTEC(B18C) i usually get about 30mpg, but about 6 months ago i made a 280mile round trip with a busted radiator and so never drove over 60mph, plus never reved it high enough for the VTEC to engage...the car done 46mpg!!!! but that was a once off..i have a full mugen exh system with hi flo cat, blitz intake, mugen cams and ICON chip and iridium plugs, our petrol over here is 95RON for regular and 98RON fro super unleaded.

My car uses gas like it going out of fashion!!! I dropped a b16 in my 90 crx along with I/H/E lightened flywheel and stage 2 clutch. I drive my car like an SOB though, so that doesn't help. I get about 20 MPG unless I try to behave myself, then I get around 25-28. As soon as I get on the highway though with my s1 tranny, I sit at 5200 rpms at 80mph and I swear I can see my gas gauge needle slowly drop as I drive. But I love those short gears!!!!

as far as octane goes, it depends on the car. my crx dx with i/h/e gets over 40 mpg on the high octane. it gets 25 on 89 octane. i don't know why, but it doesn't like that at all. my prelude it doesn't seem to matter in. 87-92 octane all seem to average about the same 28-30 mpg. but the prelude is bone stock right now.

On the way from Fl I was averaging 28 mgp with the a/c off and 22-24 with the a/c on. But when i ripp around the neighbor hood i eat $10 for every ten minuets...

Oh when i use 100oct the car just feels awsome and even though it costs like $5.oo a gallon i don't pay att to the mpg, just having fun and runing at the track.
