The blocks are essentially the same. You can take the stuff from you old block and put it on your new block.

you need your usdm b16a2 oil pump. Doesnt it have a crank sensor in it that obd1 motors dont have?

yes, i believe the crank sensor is on the oil pump. i will need to swap out oil pumps. anything else besides the oil pumps?

also, what about the 88-91 jdm b16a? is it the same as the sirII? just swap out oil pumps?

a jdm 88-91 b16a has the 2 prong coolant temp sensor/fan switch in the back of the block, while your stock harness has a plug type one in the thermostat housing.

Sorry for bumping a very old thread..........I just searched around & found this post which is closest to what I needed to know.

My friend has a Cdn spec 00 SiR(supposed to run OBD2B but he chipped & tuned it to run p28). He needs to rebuild his engine now. We like to find out :

- If we use the OBD2b 00Si/SiR oil pump from his old block is the ONLY thing needed to do in order to use a JDM/USDM obd1/obd2a short block??

Can he swap right back to his obd2b ecu in order to go for emission test?

- The bolt that bolt his crank pulley into his crankshaft is broken. In case he needed another crank, what would u guys suggest us to look for?

New aftermarket crank (Eagle makes them? Are they reliable for going up to 9000rpm a lot coz we do quite a bit of lapping events)? used oem crank? the whole used short block? How do we check for condition or damages etc?

- We have a B17a short block sitting around collecting dust. It used to go with a GSR head & had low compression but anyway. Should we make use of it?

What do we need to do in order to use that block? Which piston should we go for? Any side effect from using that?

Please let me know guys! Thanks!
