SEARCHED! D16 into car that had B16...
I have an 89 Si that had a b16 and I'm going to put in a D16.
I think I need all these usdm EF (dx or si) parts: intake, mani's, header, dist., plugs, harness, axles, tranny, shift linkage, clutch and ecu; to be smog legal, and for the car to run.
Need to know exactly what EF Dx parts I can use, and what EF Si parts I have to use. I'm pretty sure I need EF Si (d16a6) dist., plugs, tranny, ecu, and I think I can get the rest of the parts from an EF Dx. The car's not going to have a d16a6, but will have a sohc zc or some other d-series.
Not sure if this is all correct...
Thanks

Mr. latino betta take that "dr." off your name cuz you dont know jack.
To clarify for latino...its simply not that simple.
Theres obd and mpfi situations that dont come with the usual b16 swap...so no you cant work back from someone who installed a b16. Next time make sure you know what your talking about before you post.
Thanks for the useful info from bagpipe.

Just to clarify...If I buy a 88-91 sohc zc w/ cable tranny, the tranny will work in my EF?
Can someone confirm or deny the info. in the first post?

No on the itbs.
Thanks for the info helped out a lot.
Si or Dx with these parts: dist. + plugs, clutch?
Would the fuel rail have to be changed for smog if I get a jdm engine?
Thanks again mr. phd.
Are all these parts interchangable (will work) on a d15b?

You will need to use the Si distributor and plugs.
The fuel rail will not need to be changed. However, be aware that if the ref checks the block stamp and it says zc he will fail you.
The clutch and flywheel should be matched to the year of the transmission

Would a D16A1 not be a suitable counterpart? I don't have to smog or BAR so I don't have any direct experience.
