Transmission Removal & Install
My sons clutch just went out on his 97 Civic with a B18B1 Engine from a 95 Integra LS. I have all the tools, but I was wondering if anyone has a procedure on how to remove and install a 5-speed on this car. I've done tranny's on rear wheel drive cars and trucks, but was concerned if this is something I can do in my garage? Do I need to have any special engine supports from the top of the car? Any info would be appreciated?
Thanks,
Ron

if you have done trannies in rear wheel drive, this should be a piece of cake. A few friends and basic tools and it should be out and in, in just a few hours.
very easy, but check this out if you want a step by step w/ pictures

Depending on how long ago it was swapped, you might want to spray the hell out of the axle splines in the hub with penetrating oil. It took 3 days (working till I was ready to break something) of spraying, heating, and pounding to get my ls axles out of my eg. Turned out one boot recently ripped, and the other was almost cracked open too. When I had to yank the tranny on my 88 teg I didn't have air tools for the axles, so I just unbolted the stocks and yanked them out till they pulled out of the tranny. Not sure if you can do that in an eg w/ls, since there was almost no room left.
