Default Car died on me last night!

ANOTHER UPDATE!!
today i changed the main relay and the fuel pump was still not turning on.
so i was contemplating on whether to buy a new dizzy cap/rotor.
that being said, what would explain my fuel pump not turning on?

here i go.. last night i was driving home until all of a sudden my rpm's just dropped even though i was giving gas. after it stallled out it wouldnt start up again. does anybody know what the problem might be?

im stumped because nothing like this has never happened to me before

check for spark. if no spark check cap and rotor then coil and ignitor. i had a similar prob on my 95 gsr , i was going down the highway and it just cut off while i was driving, coasted for like half a mile and then it vame back on by itself, talked to an acura tech and he said change cap and rotor and that did fix MY prob. also died one time sitting still and it turned out to be coil, put msd back and was ok again. Hope this helps

sounds like the dizzy to me too. same thing happened to me. it was running great, the all of a sudden started running like crap for about 10 seconds, then died. I didn't even have enough time to pull over.

thats the exact situation i was in... had to push my car to the side.
in your case, did you change your dizzy completely? or just cap/rotor/coil individually.

i changed the whole dizzy, but I was having issues with it for a few weeks prior to that. I doubt it's the coil, I did reuse that. I would start with cap and rotor, I bet that'll fix it. If that doesn't work then get a new dizzy.

def. the dizzy, check to see if you have spark to find out for sure though.

happened to my car, and i checked to see that there was power going to the dizzy but none coming out. Called honda and they said the ignitor goes bad sometimes, $220 from them. I bought a brand new dizzy off of ebay with a 3 year warranty for $200 shipped overnight

if you cant hear your fuel pump prime, its either your main relay or the fuel pump itself.

is there any way i can check the condition of my main relay? or is there any other ways to figure out if its the main relay, such as other things not working (ex. headlights or something like that)

The main relay is just a fuse. Visually inspect it to see if it's blown. Other than that it sounds like dizzy probs. Maybe the timing belt jumped some teeth as well? You could check this by taking of the timing belt cover and turning the crank untill you get to TDC and see if the cam and crank are both at TDC. If they are then I would go ahead and replace the dizzy. They aren't that expensive.

then how would you explain the fuel pump not priming?

You can swap them out for a working main relay or fuel pump.

if you try starting your car and it is turning over but is not starting,

1.then check for a spark
if you arent getting a spark
then change rotor and cap on dizzy (also inspect plugs and plug wires)
if still doesnt spark
change the ignitor coil(aprox$70 at advanced auto or somewhere),

if still doesnt spark then post on honda-tech(this is as far as i got)

else fuel problem,
1.check relay (priming when you turn key to on postion, whirring noise)
check fuel pressure

the guy told you his pump isn't working... check your main relay, ignition switch, and fuel pump... also, check the appropriate fuses
