Registering a car from a different state
Well like the topic title says, I have a guy I am thinkin about buying a GSR from except the car was registered in washington. The tags have expired and the GSR is here in SoCal. Anyone know how much I would have to pay the DMV for getting it registered here such as fees, taxs, penalties, etc. Thanks guys.
check your dmv website, or call them up. thats probably going to be the best bet. I asked them when i bought my bike from out of state what was needed, they gave me all the forms and what not, everything went SMOOOOOOTH. gl.

agreed. no one here is really going to give you an accurate answer unless they work for the DMV. i'd just contact them, that way you know your getting the right info! good luck!

When I brought my car from Virginia to California, I had to go into the DMV in order to title the car, have it inspected, register it, and pay fees. There will be no penalties related to registering it because of the expired tags.
Basically, go to the California DMV website, print out the title application and they should also have a form for bringing an out of state car. When you go to the DMV, they will have you pull the car around to the side and have one of the workers come inspect it. All they do is check the VIN number on the dash, mileage, and make sure it has 4 wheels. Then they sign the form, you go back in, pay the title fees, taxes on the sale price, registration fees, and that's it. Just make sure you have the old-owners out-of-state title, signed over to you.
I would put a low selling price, so you can save on taxes, but not so low that they think you lied (e.g. you don't want to put $500 for a 2000 GSR). Fees should total up to less than $100 for title and reg, plus whatever tax is owed on the selling price.

the best thing to do also is when registering if you put a low purchase price like that you should do an affidavit and write exactly : Vehicle Was Sold AS IS With Exterior and Interior damage.....then jus print and sign your name so they dont question you. i work for an out of state titling agency but make sure u can get it notarized
