If you are on a strict budget nothing beats oem honda. However, aftermarket pistons and rods are nice if you have the money. As for gaskets and bearings I would always use oem honda imo.

Forged components:

Pistons:

CP
Wiseco
JE
Arias

Rods:

Crower
Eagle
Manley
Pauter

Best possible setup is to run an oem bottom like everyone has pretty much said. If your going NA then you dont need aftermarket rods.

ZC(p29/PM7) pistons
stock rods shot peened
arp rod bolts
all oem bearings/seals.

If you want to go all out NA, ditch the vtec heads and run non-vtec. If your looking for a good daily driver then by all means use the vtec head.

You have a similar setup to my old one lol

a6 block and head
port and polish by me
zc pistons stock bore
oem bottom
exospeed "stage 4" cam, call will and ask about it if your interested
isky springs and retainers
aem gear
DCOE 45 carbs
custom mani I whipped up
bisi-moto header.

made 186 at the wheels, and got me a 12.8@113 on drag radials.

I think the carbs were the whole key to my setup, i drove it pretty much daily and never had an issue, motor is still running today after about 1 1/2 years.

those carbs and header prolly had a good bit to do with that. I will be lucky to get 160hp at the crank.

Is this going to be a street car? Running P29 pistons will require some good gas.

He is going to be at about 12.3:1 comp. Thats daily driveable but he's going to need 93 or 94 for sure.
