Default crank angel sensor help

Hi,

Have a 2000 Prelude and the ECU is throwing a crank angle sensor code. Double checked the sensor connection and seems fine. Checked continuity to the ecu, looks good. I noticed by looking at the sensor at the crank there are two magnetic pickups. One of them faces down towards the block and reads the disc on the crank. The other one faces up, but I don't know what it is supposed to be reading. Am I missing a part? The only thing I can see it reading is the pulley where the timing belt goes onto. Anyone have a schematic or picture of the sensor would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
