OT: If you want to fly to Japan, now is a great time to go
Japan Airlines (JAL) is running a nice fare sale to Japan (and other points in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Shanghai).
http://www.japanair.com/e/index.php
Just click on the Super Sale Fares banner for details.
Best deal is the "inauguration special" from Chicago to Tokyo/Osaka/Nagoya for $499 ROUND-TRIP (weekday travel). Good for travel thru 5/31/05.
LA to Tokyo is still a very reasonable $530 round-trip and New Yawk-Tokyo is only $580 round-trip. Good for travel thru 5/19/05.
If you go to other points in Asia, like Hong Kong or Shanghai, you can plan a stopover in Japan at no additional charge - I do this EVERY time

US citizens are allowed to bring back $800 worth of merchandise duty-free PER PERSON. You can get by with more as long as it's not oversized (like a couple of JDM Recaros), as that tends to draw the attention of the Customs agents

Woot!! Going to Maui this June for 8 days for the honeymoon
Now if I could only get an R as a Rental car and drive it on the road to Hana. Oh well, I'll probably have to settle for a Kia or something else that sucks.
btw........these prices are really good! its costing us $740 each to go to Maui and that was considered to be a pretty good deal. I want to go to Japan too

You guys are probably right, as I'll most likely want to be paying much more attention to the beautiful land rather than the car. I guess thats the main purpose of driving Hana. I have yet to go, so I'm very excited
